Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
Thanks Chris
Are the MK1s any good

Chris Townsend: Mine was rubbish. I’m not sure what difference the later models offer so it might be worth asking about that. Hopefully better connectivity.

Why? My MK1 A9 was one of the best B&O products I've ever owned and still regret selling it. How on earth do you regard it as 'rubbish'?
A9 offers one of the best performance for the price from any speaker I've owned and I've had a lot (and own a BeoSound 2 and Edge right now). I know people had issues with wifi, but giving the A9 a fixed IP easily solved this. Job done. It was discussed on the forum many times.
Just get a MK2 as a minimum.... Bluetooth, multi room make things easier
I agree, they are excellent value for money. The Beoplay A9 (Mk2 in my case) made me a believer in B&O again and led to my loving the brand once again. I've since bought several Beoplay and Beosound products but the A9 is still my favourite for everyday listening. The connectivity with AirPlay 2 has been rock solid and the sound is excellent. If B&O were to allow A9s to be paired in stereo mode, I'd buy them in a heart beat.

I'd never use the A9 or any similar 'professional' speaker using Bluetooth - it's just not got the bandwidth for high-quality audio. Portable speaker, sure.
I’ve sourced a MK1 at £750 and a MK2 at £1200 is it worth the difference

I believe MK2 is worth it for AirPlay 2. I have mine set permanently to use AirPlay 2. To me it sounds better than Bluetooth.
I believe you need Bluetooth 4.2 for CD quality. AirPlay 2 is also CD quality and lossless streaming. Also, only MK2 onwards the A9 has lossless streaming from what I know. I love my A9. It’s an amazing value - even better than the Stage (IMHO). You won’t regret it.
Chris Townsend:Seems good sense then, to buy a later model than the Mk1. What also do the later Mks add?

At first glance, there is no big difference between the 2nd and 3rd generation of A9. But to meet future requirements we have updated the technical platform and hardware in our updated version Beoplay A9 MKIII:

In Beoplay A9 4th generation, we have even more exciting features for you:
Livingroom: BL3, BL11, BV11-46 Kitchen: Beosound 1 GVA, Beocom 2 Bathroom: M3 Homeoffice: M3, Beocom 2 Library: Beosound Emerge, Beocom 6000 Bedroom: M5, Essence remote Travel: Beoplay E8 2.0, Beoplay EQ, Beoplay Earset
Chris Townsend:Doesn’t that depend on the type of Bluetooth. I asked about this a year or so ago, and was told as long as both devices supported the higher resolution format(aptX-Bluetooth 4.0) you could get near CD quality with Bluetooth now! Anyone know if that’s true?
Yep, but the old MK2 doesn't, which is pretty much my point. ie what's the point of telling people what you can do, when the device doesn't support it?
Hi
Can anyone advise I you can give the Beoplay A9 Mk1 a fixed ip.
I have tried through the B@O app but it is failing to find the item when I do a search to add it
If nothing else works... you can try coming at the problem "backwards": Many routers can reserve an IP address for a specific piece of equipment, if you configure the router telling it the equipment's MAC address. Then you let the equipment do its usual DHCP request to the router but the router always answers with the same IP! (Personally, I doubt this will fix the underlying problem, namely the B&O app fails to see the A9; however it does work-around the static IP issue without relying on anything B&O.)

You do this in the network settings on the B&O app. Just manually configure the network settings rather than using DHCP. You'll need to enter your router's fixed IP address, then you can give your speaker it's own IP address.
Please bear with me on this
I know have the old B&O app have carried out the following
1) Entered my Routers Fixed IP Address
2) Entered my Subnet Mask
3) saved everything
The A9 is now flashing Orange, how do i assign the speakers its own IP Address
If anyone is kind enough to reply can you provide step by step instructions as i quite new to this process
thanks
