Hi Beoworlders,
I hope that you are all well. I have found out a way to allow up to three Beograms to be remotely controlled from the comfort of your bathtub (or anywhere else in your home if you wish!)
As soon as my YouTube channel reaches 2,000 subscribers, I will publish the video (currently on 1,983, so not many more needed!) - please subscribe at https://youtube.com/soundsheavenlycables if you would like me to release the video!
Steve.

It is good indeed!
Learned s.th. new again about the numerous B&O secrets. Thanks, Steve!Steve, would you mind keep showing product pictures, your website pictures etc. a little bit longer in your videos? The first screenshot / picture of your website was gone so fast that I couldn't even hit the Pause button fast enough to have a look at it. It would be nice, too, if you'll show all pictures in full screen to do their beauty justice.
Thanks TWG!
Sorry about that, I will make the images larger and show them for longer in future.
Glad you liked the video
Your video inspired me to buy yet another Beogram turntable, which I bought within 5 minutes of watching your video! I'm now curious if a phono input on a datalink BeoMaster can also control a second CD player -- provided that the BeoMaster does not have a phono preamp built into the PHONO source.
Many years ago, I purchased an external phono preamp from my B&O dealer. Unlike the one for purchase on your site and other sites, this preamp has datalink connections for both input and output and transmits the datalink control. I'm so glad I got this over 20 years ago. I haven't seen anything like it available since.
Hi Beojeff,
Thanks, my aim is to inspire people to fall in love with their B&O collection again, so that is great news!
I stock pre-amps without Datalink wiring, but once the Corona virus restrictions have been lifted in the UK, I will aim to offer custom-made wiring looms for Datalink again.
Yes, if you have a later Beomaster (3500, 4500, 6500, 700 or Beocenter 9300) without a phono pre-amp, then you can connect a second Beogram CD to the Phono socket and the system will control this.
Nice video, thanks. I sense a peak in MCL-searches (and prices) on eBay coming, glad I bought my MCL2 and MCL2AV boxes before the rush
Regarding the query about interest in MCL2 cable, I could probably use some meters. I am currently moving into a new place and had enough cable already in my spare parts bin, but always could use some spare. Some years ago I bought as new couple of meters (Tasker, I think?) multi-wire cable, which other than being slightly thinner (probably Ok for low wattage speakers) was pretty much spot-on replacement, even the cable colours matched.
Thanks lausvi!
Good to know about the Tasker cable, I know them well so I will ask them what they have. Any chance you could please email me the product code shown on the cable jacket?

I checked my notes; forget it
It was Tasker C6025, but now that I looked at the specs it's way too thin for speaker level (only 0,25mm2). The thing I was building then was an MCL2A with a headphone socket (instead of speaker output - this was meant for a bed-side setup for night-time headphone-listening :) so it was a special case (and fine with thinner cable). And it had the correct colors :)

As for controlling 3 BeoGrams......I could not care less!
I am about to ditch the last MCL-based room in my setup.
Maybe that - along with the rest of my old MCL gear in the drawer - could bring enough money for a BeoSound Core.........I could use one in my current setup ;-))

There is a tv - and there is a BV

I suspect that I more polite tone could have been achieved. Steve certainly put a nice effort into this video, and his effort is much appreciated.
Good morning MM!
I know that MCL and turntables are not everyone's favourite subjects
Maybe now your old MCL gear will sell for more money if more people watch my video?
Kind regards and wishing you a nice weekend, Steve.

I am sorry, if my comment could be seen as ‘unpolite’.
I have great respect for what Steve does and am a costumer - his effords are indeed much appreciated.
However, it must be possible to post a comment that goes strictly against this current vinyl hype.
As for MCL, my B&O ‘career’ started with the MCL era....I have helpet installing tons of MCL/X-tra Speakers setups in earlier years.
Comparing what a ML or a NL (or a NL/ML) setup can offer with the MCL version isn’t hard - but how you end up deciding for yourself surely depends on your needs and expectations.
B&O’s moving on from a speakers-cables line-based type of ‘multiroom’ to a line/balanced-based and to a network-based type of multiroom had reasons and advantages.
Ok, also disadventages - depending on what you’d expect and how well the setup is handled.
I am fine with people using MCL!
As I wrote, I still have one MCL-room (the kichen) driven directly by my oldschool BeoSystem 4500 - I even use a BL5000 there.
But since I miss something there (independency of what the main system orherweise is used for at the same time), I am going to change that in near future.
A smart part of the MCL system was the use of the MCL 2AV box - which however, required an additional amp (the 2P) respectively active speakers to work. (Don’t remember Staeve mentioning this).
Also Steve was not correct, when telling us (at 9:08 and at 10:00 in the video) that you can access the device on the AV2-box (be it a turntable) by pushing Link plus the associated button.... and just the associated button to reach/activate the one from a main Master system.
On the contrary.......you have to use the Link command to access the main device, if you have a local same one!
I did remember that from earlier on, when watching the video and I looked it up afterwards too.
By the way here is a link to a good document for those who want to try out the posdibilities of MCL:

@Steve
I was not aiming at offending you or anyone else - and I think you know that.
Your video was fun!
By the way, why not go nuts and have 5 turntables: 2 on the MCL2AV and 3 on a BM6500/7000, which has an A.Tape2 socket, that you could use in a similar way ;-)))))
Thanks MM,
Please don't worry, I don't take any offence!
Sorry for my error in the video, yes, the commands are reversed when you have a Beogram connected to the MCL2AV box - CD plays the linked Beogram and LINK CD plays the main room Beogram via the CD input of the Beomaster.
The A.TAPE sockets can be used to connect a further Beogram, but you won't be able to remotely control these, as different commands are used for the A.TAPE sockets.
Te: the Ouverture as best way to have a full Masterlink setup: can you also use the Mk2 / big clamper Ouverture in order to remotely control a Beogram?
Hi,
Yes, all versions of the Ouverture (but not the later 3000 or 3200) should be able to remotely control a Beogram that has Datalink and a pre-amp built in.
My second BeoGram arrived today to hook up to my BeoMaster 5500. I have the BeoGram 5500 connected to the PHONO socket and the BeoGram 9500 connected to the CD socket via my special preamp that is capable of transmitting datalink control. Datalink works as Steve suggested, and there is full control from all NL devices via an NL/ML Converter. My problem now is that I can discern the huge difference between the MMC2 and the MMC4! I supposed I'll want to upgrade from the MMC4 soon.
I might even finally get around to having my BeoGram 8002 serviced and a new plug attached to my BeoGram 3000. Some idiot broke off the datalink pins on the BeoGram 3000.
Thank you again, Steve, for your inspirational video.
