The BV Horizon is still based on Android TV 5.1.1 which is more than four years old. The latest version is Android TV 10 released in December 2019.  Any chance (or better plans) B&O will provide an update to the Horizon or have they stopped investing in upgrades to the Horizon platform?

Wont be updated to 10 I'm afraid.

Later versions require more powerful chipset.

thanks.  That would be hugely disappointing. Although they launched the Horizon more than four years ago, i bought the TV only last year. Moreover they are advertising on their website "The ever-evolving TV experience"...

Difficult to know what to say.

I'd always consult the forum before buying - annoying though many of us can be (me included), its pretty clear which products are well liked and for what reasons, and which have had a chequered life.

In the end, many / most here aren't too bothered by native TV OS' not being updated - its a common facet of todays landscape across TV brands these days, and many will just use an Apple TV for the "smarts".

I’m afraid that the Horizon (and BV14) won’t receive any Android upgrades. I have a feeling that the platform is using an underpowerd platform for future updates.

I’m an owner of an BV14 which is using the same platform... so no upgrades for me too

Thanks for the replies. Somewhat disappointing to learn that this TV is already outdated and not future proof as advertised. I have installed a few Android apps from the Google Play store and one of these apps does not longer support version 5 of Android TV.  Apple TV might indeed be an alternative; probably a good time to upgrade my Apple TV3 to the latest version.

What TV is future proof?

Of course the Horizon has been limited in its updates, but sooner or later an Apple TV or similar was going to be required

Agree with Sandyb.

But there are alternatives to the ATV - if you are more into Android, a Nvidea Shield could be a solution.

MM

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Amazon fire TV stick works also fine. All apps, prime video, Netflix etc.

My last TV was a Loewe tube tv, no updates for the last 20 years. Worked fine Smile
