Thank you for the kind offer and apologies for the late reply, however I have played a lot with the different software versions (2.1, 2.2 and 2.3) and I came to the conclusion that software 2.2 is the only one that works for my Beomaster 5500. Since I am not planning to depart with the BM for a while I will keep my eyes out for a SW 2.2 version. Perhaps there are others interested in this still? I know a few people still use MCL, e.g. Steve from sounds heavenly.
