Hi, I was repairing the cd door on my bc8500, on closing it up and powering on ,I heard a crackle from it and now only the standby light is on ! I have worked on it over the years, bought in 1982, but have never encountered this. Can anyone help please......

Hi Kaddy

If you are not firm with Electicity don't follow my suggestions! Iam not responsablle for any Fire or Damage on your Beocenter or any electric Shock to yourself.

!!PULL MAINS PLUG FIRST!!

Is your "Hoodlifter"- Rod still in it's Place or is it tangeling loose? If it's loose maybe the Metalrod did touch something Inside

Have a closer Look to the Fuses which are on the Backside of the Transformer.

There is a Plastic Cover on the Back of the Unit that covers the Transformator, held by (I think 2 screws maybe 3).

Underneath you will find several Fuses. (Black or Brown round Housing). Pull them gently and measure the continuity of the two Pins .

If one is boken look at the Service Manual and try to figure out what Part of the Beocenter the Fuse is serving and inspect the Part closely for burning Marks or blown Parts.

If you can't find visible I would replace the Fuse with the same Rate and give it a try.

Maybe you're lucky and the BC comes back to life, if you're unlucky the Fuse will blow aggain, and you have to investigate the Fault.

Best Regards

Chrischi
