Hi Folks,

I have a Mk III Avant 32 DVD which I've owned nearly 10 years. The DVD Unit developed a fault in 2012 (which I posted at the time for some info re parts etc as B & O wanted £700 for replacement unit) whereby it wouldn't read the disc after loading.

I've bought a MK II for spares with a working DVD.

Is it simply a question of swapping out the DVD Chassis and Controller?

I have the service manual for the MK II and there doesn't appear to be any special instructions apart  from ensuring the ribbon cables are correctly connected?

Any tips or advice please?

Thanks

Mike

Swapping both drive and controller will be sufficient. There has been 2 different drives. A Panasonic and a Pioneer version afaik.

Hi,

Went to swop drive and controller but noticed the power ribbon from the power supply is different (on the back of the controller on my MkIII) .

I tried just swopping the drive first but same symptoms as exisiting...will open/close but will not play/load.

So, I've completely swopped out the power supply, controller and drive from the Mk II.

However, DVD completely unresponsive...won't open drive or even respond to BEO4 or the Panel.

Any ideas?

Noticed that the power supply ribbon from power supply is on back of Controller on Mk III, on front of MkII plus slightly bigger.

Swopped just drive but no difference in symptoms.

Now swopped out power supply, controller but now no response from DVD...wont even open/close the door.

Pressing the DVD on remote provides no response.

Is any registration required?

Thanks

Mike
