Hi, I'm a new member, so firstly hello to everyone.
My much loved Beochord 5000 (4922) has developed a fault and I'm hoping that members might be able to help with diagnostics and a fix.
Fault.
There is no output and the level meters do not show any signal. The level meter panel lights up (L) (R) and two read dots, but the bars do not light up. Everything else works fine.
I think that the power supply could have dropped out of spec or the tape head could of failed, but I could do with some data, pin outs and voltages if anyone can help.
What voltages should be on the pins direct from the power supply? The ones that clip into the power supply board.
What voltages should be on the connector pins 6 P6 and 6 P7? The connectors for the ribbon cable from the main board.
What's the best way and place to check the tape head with a voltmeter?
Any help would be really useful, thanks.
Check the record/playback relay.Check that the dolby board is connected properly under the main board.
Martin
Hi Martin, thank you for your response. A very good suggested as the relay does not appear to be switching so I will try to find a pin out and check the voltages.
Thanks
Hi Martin, thanks for the advice.
I cannot find any voltage to the relay on the pcb. Do you know what the transformer out voltages should be for a T49.
The relay is only powered when recording. It's its contacts that usually causes problems and I like to replace it on sight.I wouldn't suspect the power supply as the first thing.
Ok, I'l put a relay in as goods practice. Thanks for your advice.
Hi, well I have fitted the new relay, unfortunately it has not made any difference. As they say, back to the drawing board.
