Hi all,
Sorry for not posting it in the forum for Beo4 as I could not find it so therefore I'll try it here and hope for some answers.
For the moment I have a MCP 6500 which I am thinking to replace it with Beo4 as I am only using Beomaster 6500 and the buttons I need are Aux and Tape2. I recently got to know from Steve (SoundsHeavenly) that the loudness, treble and bass can be achived via Beo4 so thats good :)
On my Beomaster i have Aux connected to my PC and i will connect Chromecast Audio on Tape2.
1. My question is that which button on Beo4 is equivalent to Aux and Tape2 as on MCP 6500 and how can I make it work.
2. Do I need a specific version of Beo4 as there are plenty of them, if so which one ?
Thanks !
sonu1975:1. My question is that which button on Beo4 is equivalent to Aux and Tape2 as on MCP 6500 and how can I make it work.
You'll have to add functions (as 'soft' buttons) to the Beo4's LIST command. Then you have to press LIST until the option you want is showing, and then press GO.
AUX is added as A.AUX
TAPE2 is added as either A.TAPE2 (earlier models with the AV button) or N.RADIO (later models)
Any (non-hotel) version of Beo4 should be OK for your purposes, but try to get a good condition one with a fully working display.
I should have asked: Are you already using the CD, TAPE1 and PHONO sockets on your BM6500? If not, there could be a simpler way to connect and select your PC and Chromecast.
Thanks for your reply !
I god rid of my CD, Cassete and Phono so no I am not using any of them.
For the moment I have connected my PC to Aux and was planning to use Tape2 on CC but do suggest than I change it from Aux to CD/Tape and CC to Phono ?

If you want to access them with a single button press, then move then to any of the inputs that can be accessed in that way. If you are going for a Beo4, then I'd probably use the CD and TAPE1 inputs. On a newer Beo4, the A.MEM button selects TAPE1.
To be honest, a BL1000 will work just as well as a Beo4 for your purposes. If you leave your connections as they are, it is also simpler to access TAPE2 and AUX with a BL1000.
TAPE2 = SHIFT TAPE
AUX = SHIFT RADIO
Another alternative is to get an A.TERMINAL. There's one on eBay at the moment and you will see that it has a useful set of inputs that can be accessed from a single button press.

I was going for the Beolink 1000 first but then I thought to go for Beo4 since I am getting a good price for it.
Is it possible to see increase / decrease of bass on the LCD screen of Beo4 as I am having my BM in a strange position.
sonu1975:Is it possible to see increase / decrease of bass on the LCD screen of Beo4
Unfortunately not! The Beo4 is only a one way remote - it can only send messages to the BM.
OK, thanks for your help :)
At least I know that Beo4 will work just fine with the features i am looking for .
Just to add something to the mix. You could consider the Beolink 5000 remote. That is a two way remote and has a screen to display levels etc. I used one for years with my Beosystem 4500.
The link below says about usuing it with the Beosytem 6500, "The Beolink 5000, is a compact two way terminal little larger than a Beolink 1000 (and ssimilar to the Beo4). This would work most of the functions fairly comprehensively, but could not display recording levels".

Just for my knowledge, regarding the last post: is it possible to use a MCP6500 with a Beosystem 4500 ?
I have been looking at the info regarding the beolab 5000 speakers and they say that they are designed for use with the Beosystem 4500 and 6500 so the information to run the displays would be the same. That leads me to think that the 2 way information data between the Beosystem 4500 and 6500 may be the same too.
Also, as both systems work with the Beolink 5000 I would think the MCP 6500 would fully control the Beosystem 4500. Having said that, not all Beosystem 4500 were two way. I had the 2-way module added when I bought mine new.
oli: Just for my knowledge, regarding the last post: is it possible to use a MCP6500 with a Beosystem 4500 ?
Sadly no. It's a different type of 2-way and the MCP requires a funny kind of return signal. MCPs also won't work with other 2-way Beocenters such as BC9500 and BC2300.
EDIT: I should have added that some simple functions will of course work (eg source selection), but the volume in particular causes all sorts of problems and is difficult to control evenly.
EDIT 2: From distant memory though, I think it may be possible to fully control a 2-way product (eg 9500) with an MCP from an MCL2A (or 2AV) link room.
At last I received my Beo4 and tried to work it with my Penta I speakers on Aux. It worked but i am only getting sound from one speaker (right) and nothing from the felt one. The left one's red light is showing and not turning to green.
With my MCP 6500 I hade no problems, got sound from both speakers and nothing wrong with the cables.
What do you guys think the problem is, driving me nuts ?
I doubt that this is related to the change of remote control.
Have you tried swapping the speaker cables around (L to R and R to L) to try to identify whether it is the Pentas or the Beomaster giving problems?
Tried to swap the speakers and only the same one as before is having sound, whether I change to left or right.
Had no problems till the day I had MCP 6500, both speakers were working just fine.
What can be the problem ?
I am not that familiar with Pentas - how are they connected to the Beomaster? Powerlink or Speakerlink?
Are you sure that they are connected to the correct sockets? Have you tried swapping round just the cables to see if the problem is there?
