Hello again!

As I posted in my update to my original query, my Beosound 8 arrived today and I immediately sat down to inspect it. Here's what I did:

1) I plugged it in, and tested out the AUX input by plugging it into the headphone input of my iMac.. It powered on (the light turned green) but no sound came out of the speakers.

2) I dug up an old Airport Express and configured it to connect into my home network. Then I plugged the AUX cables into the AE, and tried to send the audio from my computer. No Sound.

3) I dug up an old iPod Touch that I haven't used in years, charged it a bit, and then plugged it into the Beosound 8 dock. After some jiggling of the dock, it worked!

4) I attached my iPod Classic to the dock. No sound.

5) I pulled out a lightning adapter and plugged that into the dock, and attached my iPhone 11 Pro. It worked!

6) I attached a 30 pin iPod bluetooth adapter that I have for my iPod Hi-Fi at work. It didn't work.

7) I then attached a FIOS bluetooth adapter to the AUX cables and tried that. No sound.

So, it appears that the dock works, though there's a broken pin on it. My plan for the unit was to be able to stream wireleslly to it from my iMac. However, it appears that the buetooth adapter I have doesn't work.

So I have some questions:

1) Has anyone found a 30 pin iPod bluetooth adapter that works? I guess there were a few that were available years ago, but they are no longer available. Also, I would like one with a more modern version of Bluetooth, either 4.2 or 5.

2) I'm guessing that somehow my Beosound 8 thinks that an iPod is always attached, so it won't give up the sound port so that the AUX can work. Does this sound like a reasonable guess? If so, is there an easy way to remove the dock so that the AUX input can work?

Thanks for your advice!

Open it up and disconnect the dock connector.

First the screws around the speakers, then away with the metal rings, away with the screws in the metal plate. Then away with screws on the rear.

Thank you!

I wonder if by maybe disconnecting and reconnecting the dock, I'll be able to restore the AUX functionality, but also keep the dock as an option in case I want to use it that way (for example, when I'm in an online video conversation, but I still want some music in the background, I can just plug my iPhone into the dock).

Guess I'll have to test this out.

Have to say that the sound of the Beosound 8 is really nice!

Grrrr. I took the Beosound apart, following the instructions (THANKS, LEO!). I disconnected the iPod dock. Then I plugged in aux cables to my Airport Express and decided to test it out. No sound.

So I reconnected the dock, after all, it works with my old iPod Touch. I put everything back together. Attached the iPod and pressed Play.

No sound.

Ugh, what could I have done wrong?
