I've just realised a strange fact. This is a photo of my beomaster 2400:
If you look at the display, you realise that it is not the same as the common 2400. Also, when the capacitors of the volume control board was changed, it was the one, I think, with 128 steps (2 capacitors to change). So my 2400, is in reality a 2400-2... This is type 2908 (CDN) from 1979 to october 1983 (last to be sold). So I came to the conclusion that since the machine was released in Canada only 3 years after the american one, when the 2400-2 was released elsewhere, in Canada they kept the old numbering, maybe for marketing purposes?? I'm wondering if the US type 2905 share the same characteristics, as it was released during the same period....
These details are always interesting so thanks for sharing.
The Beomaster 1900 and 2400 models are closely related but there ARE minor differences like the fact thatall Beomaster 2400 had factory fitted remote control where the Beomaster 1900 didn't (couldn't be fitted) andthe Beomaster 1900-2 was only prepared for it, needing a trip to an authorized service shop to have a large amountof components installed and for some Beomasters also a new bottom plate with openings for the ultrasound receiver.
When the -2 versions became available, the only differences from the previous models werethat the 128-step volume control was now standard and the frontpanel icons had changed a bit.Having said that, it's my experience that most Beomaster 2400 already had the 128-step volume controland, indeed, the later Beomaster 1900 (prior to the -2 models) also had it.
It's a jungle, really.

I have the 2400 and retro-fitted the 128 step volume on mine back in 1979. I think it is probable that I am not the only person to do so.
I haven't listened to my 1900 in awhile, I need to get that out and check to see if it had the 128 step volume control.
I know my 2400 does not. Is that an easy retrofit (provided one can actually find the part(s))?
