I am sure this question was answered before but can't find it. A friend who has the original BeoSound 1 from around 2016 wanted to get the new dock. However, the B&O website says it only works with the current version with the GVA (which I have). I saw pictures of the bottom of his BS1 and it looks the same. Can someone confirm if the dock being sold on the B&O website would work with the 2016 version of the BS1?

Many thanks.

@Jaffrey2230, in your other thread you say you now own a Gen2 w/GVA, and you bought a charging dock.  Can you verify whether your friend in this thread with the Gen1 was actually able to make the dock work?  I plan to buy a Gen2 without GVA (assuming that it actually is a Gen2, and not simply a re-badged Gen1 if you order without GVA [Edit: The label for the non-GVA version indeed says "BeoSound 1 2nd generation"; US Type No. is 6673.]).  Why would B&O explicitly specify "with GVA" on the charging dock unless it really mattered?  Does anybody know?

I’m using the charging dock with the Gen 1 BeoSound 1 and can confirm it works flawlessly.

I have no idea why B&O markets the charging dock with “for GVA” in it, but I do suspect that even B&O have confused themselves with their naming considering there’s the Gen 1, Gen 2 w/o GVA and Gen 2 w/ GVA. Even my dealer didn’t know there was a Gen 2 w/o GVA.

Yes it works. He got from the B&O website since it has a 30 day return policy and it works perfectly. I think the dock is almost a must have accessory because it makes it truly portable - just lift and move and then put back into place. I found a way to make sure it drops into place by lining up. the notch in the back.

From a sound quality perspective it is hard to tell any difference between the GVA (which I have) and the Gen 1 (I believe the late Gen 1 and GVA are very similar sound-wise.

It makes working in the patio and outdoors much nicer 🙂

I bought the BS1 dock. Arrived Saturday.

Doesn't work. It just drained the BS1 battery. Before I contact my dealer, is there anything you need to do with the BS1 to get it to work with the dock?

It’s importent that you dock it correctly!

You shall hear a ”click”

If it's that fiddly, I'm not sure I want to use it! I'll give it another go later, but I'm sure I docked it correctly. Should just slot it!

If you line up the notch in the back it should dock easily. Also, assuming the power cable is connected well. Thankfully it was charged well for me.

That's what I did. The annoying thing is, you can't tell if it's charging as the BS1 shows the GVA leds even in battery power. Only reason I realised it wasn't working was that the BS1 died after a few hours!

I assume that you've lined up the insert and pushed the "retractable" plug thoroughly in the BS1.

Another picture for the ones who might be interested how it works.

As mr-anderson-son already mentioned, you should hear a click.

These clicks are on the loading dock located and only when are pressed, the power is supplied on these vertical pins.

Clicks are coming from the swithes at the loadingdock. Only then power is supplied.

Hi,

I have a 2016 1st gen Beosound 1.

Once the insert is in place, how do you reach the small buttons which are in the lower cavity of the BS1?

Do you need to remove the insert first?

Kind regards,

Yann.

That's what I mentioned. With this insert (I don't know whether there are different versions), you need to remove it before you can reach the buttons. But how often do you use these switches?

The dock only makes sense if you are connecting the BS1 wirelessly. So no Ethernet and such. Also, it assumes you are not going to power off using the physically button underneath. You can pretty much do everything from the app and the controller on top. The dock just makes the BS1 truly portable since you don’t need to remove wires etc. I have been using it with Touch to join and then moving it round as I need...

Yep, doesn't work.

The power is pushed right in via the dock and you can definitely hear it clicking in to place. Battery just drains as it's not charging the BS1.
