Hi guys

Having a problem removing the circuit board inside my 9500 beocenter, I can undo the screws to loosen it but cannot lift it out because it is being restricted.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hope this photo helps, need to access the solder joints on the back of this board but cannot get it out. Can remove the screws holding the board in position but other attachments stops it from being removed.

Have you tried removing the two screws in the heatsink at the bottom of your picture?  There's an additional screw to the left of the heatsink under the bundles of cables.

One screw left of the heatsink and one screw right of the heatsink.
Both in metal brackets - not in the actual board.

Something like this:

Sorry I have not replied to all the helpful posts but I only got around to having another attempt at removing the circuit board yesterday.

Martin your picture was a godsend to see where those screws were located. (well tucked away)

So i finally got the board out and able to turn it over and check for any bad solder joints.None were obvious to my eyes (no scope) so i decided to gently put the heat gun over the board and hopefully rejoin any small fractures that might have developed.

I refitted the board and wella the cd player fired up straight away, I let it play for around 15 mins then thought i would try another cd, this time the cd was spinning but no sound was coming out so i tried another cd same thing, i went back to the cd that was playing ok but again the disc was spinning but no sound was coming out.

So i took the board out and applied more heat to the solder side and refitted the board, now the cd door opens i put the cd in it spins for around 3 seconds there is a loud click the cd stops and the cd door opens. And thats where i am up to.Everything else is ok, Radio, tape, phono and aux.

So many thanks for all your help with this, I would take it to a repairer but i live in Suffolk and there seems to be nobody in this area that is a vintage hi-fi specialist.

Again thanks for your help guys.

It's more likely to be a problem with the capacitors on the servo board (that's the board under the disc drive).
Capacitor kits are available fpr most versions.
PM or email me.

If all else fails you could try Ray Body at QDA who may be able to help, assuming he is  still in the business.

Hi everyone

Just thought i would update you on my quest to get the 9500 Beocenter cd player sorted.

I managed to source a secondhand cd decoder board, fitted it and BAM! everything came to life and is now working perfectly,  chuffed!

Cost me a total of £46, so, pleased with the result and another old beauty is alive and kicking.

Many Thanks for everybodys help.

Gary
