Sorry if this has been asked, I did search for it a couple weeks back.... but will the BeoSystem 3 get an update eventually, so that it has the same smart features as the BeoVision 11 ?

Would be nice if you could update your BS3 and get those feature on your existing TV.

I'me far from a BS3 expert, but I highly doubt it. Perhaps there will be a BS4 in the near future! Yes - thumbs up

Too long to list....

I've always thought that the BeoMaster 5 would be logical to use to extend "smart tv" functionality to any B&O tv. After all, it's basically a computer with a hard drive and ethernet connectivity. It would seem like such a simple software upgrade that would help to justify the price difference between the BeoMaster 5/BeoSound 5 and the BeoSound 5 Encore. As it is now, I absolutely never use the BeoMaster 5 via the TV interface.

Hi lukeswiss,

don't even think of an updated BS3.

The hardware is definetly outdated. It is still a really good machine, but with no future. Therefore it has soon reached EOL.

The new engine in BV11/V1has much more power and possibilities, this engine will be used in future video-products.

How it will be used in the soon expected successor of the BV7 is not clear - nothing has yet been announced.

I expect that we will see a tv with some kind of cinema-solution like the BS3-based tv's - and of course the smart feature of the BV11/V1, NetworkLink, and more...

If you have or think of buying a BS3-based tv, you can add smarttv-functions to it in many ways - AppleTV, modern blurayplayers and so on. With the possibility to puc-control these add-on's you can build a rather nice setup today.

Greetings Millemissen

Hallo beojeff,

just like the BS3 the Beomaster5 is outdated. It is build on a WinXP-computer, and has been software-updated a lot during all the years.

If you take it and use it as it is right now, it is also a really good solution, which might work for many years to come.

Surely B&O could rebuild it on new and better hardware and WIN7, but it would be much too expensive.

Nowadays you can build an audio-solution better and for less money (and sell it for less).

If B&O are going to present a new (only)audio-solution, it will be build using the same engine as used in the videoproducts.

It will/would certainly be based on NetworkLink, and I expect that it will/would be more flexible regarding integrating things like AirPlay/DLNA than the BM/BS5 is.

I cannot imagine that it will offer any smarttv-functionallity or tv-option like the BM/BS5 does.

If you have a nice MasterLink-based setup with a good antenna-solution you can very well use the BM5 via tv - to choose music and display albumart on your linkroom-tv's. Together with a Beo6 you can control it from all your linkrooms. It is fast and well responding. No need to get rid of such a system Smile

Well, I was considering upgrading our BV4-50 to a BV4-65..... But the problem is, I would prefer it with the tech that is available in the BV11.

Unfortunately the design of the BV12 isn't really my thing, also it has no ALT center speaker. :-/ Would that even be noticable on a center speaker ?

If you are not in a hurry, you should wait and see what might come this year.

Question: Can we expect any further development of the BS3 system in the future? Same question can also be made in regard to BS5.

I'm not in a hurry, so I can hold out. Would be a shame to buy something, just before the perfect solution arrives.

I love our BV4 ....

I agree that the BS3 will reach EOL in the not to distant future and that we may expect a new engine that also can drive a projector. Regarding the BS5, the rumour regarding the major SW overhaul last Fall did not materialize - unless B&O will bring out new SW that includes and supports Spotify, AirPlay a.o. the BS5/BM5 will follow the BS3 IMHO.
