Trying to use FM Radio function of BM 7000 by
Using A/V 7000 as preamp for Active Speakers front/rear/sub
Connected both via 8 pin Din Power Link cable without success.
Remote Beolink 1000 controls both units. When Radio is selected both receivers respond but no sound.
The only way I can get it to work is when using tape 1 on BM 7000 output feeding A/V 7000 Aux input, but then I have an issue with operating each unit separately to select Aux on one of them and Radio on the other.
Question:
Is there any other intelligent way to interface both units to work as one?
Or there is a way I can disable IR sensor on BM 7000 after selecting Radio function?
Then I could power it on/off manually with Radio function selected.
Hi Zhenia, and welcome!
From what I know the BeoMaster and the A/V7000 need to be connected like this:
- an Audio Aux Link connection between the TV/Aux socket of the BeoMaster and the A-Aux socket of the A/V7000 (this is for the control signals), plus
- a PowerLink connection between one of the Powerlink sockets on the BeoMaster and the PL-Input socket on the A/V7000 (this is for the audio signals)
Then the BeoMaster should be set to Option 0 and the A/V7000 to Option 2. This will make sure only the A/V7000 receives the IR commands and controls the BeoMaster.
When you do not have these cables yet, I recommend to order them from Steve (sponsor of the site), he will get you the right cables for sure.
Nice and classic kit you have! I myself have a BeoMaster 6500 (almost the same) and for a while played with the idea to get an A/V7000 from the USA (they were not sold here in Europe I believe). I went a bit less classic with a BeoSystem 3, but connected with the 6500 .
Hope this helps!
Thank you very much for your suggestion!
I will try it as soon as I get home.
I cant hardly wait to play with it.
B&O for Life...
I was able to set BM 7000 to sound option 0 successfully
Trying to set option 2 on A/V 7000 it seems more challenging
there is no visual confirmation on display as there is on BM 7000
how ever I do hear relay clicking inside thus assuming it changed
connected cables as you suggested
7 pin DIN cable for Aux/A > Aux/TV
8 pin DIN cable for Power Link 1 > Power Link In
Now System does not respond to remote what’s so ever
attempted to power it on manually only MB 7000 responds
A/V 7000 does not.
assuming sound option isn’t set properly on A/V 7000
please correct me if I’m wrong ...
One unit at a time in stand-by
I press
Sound, 0, Store on BM 7000 and
Sound, 2, Store on A/V 7000
what else should I check for
I thank you for your time and input
Hi, good that you have the cables connected. The option setting is done with the remote control. Which one do you have?
here you can see how that works with Beo4 and BeoLink 1000 https://www.beoworld.org/beotech/mlsetups.htm
(I reckon you will need to be sure to cover off the IR sensor of the other device when doing so)
what could also be tried
press 'sound 0 store' to set the beomaster to option 0
and
press 'picture 2 store' to set the A/V7000 to option 2
Thank you for prompt response
I have Master link 1000
I will attempt that as soon as I get home
Thanks again for your advice. I found disconnected wires on one of my older 7 pin din cable
Replaced it with a new one.
system works perfectly.
Sweet victory at last! Glad it works now and thanks for letting know.
Do you actually have the manuals of all yor components? I see you are a gold member so you can get them here at the site.
Enjoy!
Thank you for informing me.
I do have some manuals that I downloaded from the web. Most of the controls are straight forward and common sense approach.
I would like to get some additional ones though, but not really sure how to get them as of yet.
I'm fairly new to this forum. Still a green horn as wee would say here in US of A
At the moment my learning curve appears to resemble a flat line, but I do see slight curvature just ahead...
At the 'Products' section of the site (first go to 'Main Site') you can find access to the manuals. They have been very useful for my learning curve :-)

I fell in love with B&O sound in early 80's
My friends dad had a pair of small 3 way passive speakers S45-2 I think and the sound stage from these small things was very impressive.
It seemed as the sound was pouring out of these speakers into the room as if it were Liquid.
There was no comparison of these small B&O speakers to the heavy monsters I had at the time made by (Pioneer, Technics, Kenwood, Fisher, Infinity and even Klipsh). They were very Loud indeed, but the sound stage, clarity and headroom seemed to be absent.
Most of the sound stayed in the speaker box itself and not in listening area it was very disappointing...
I have many different speakers for certain types of music.
My favorites are Just to list a few...
Polk Audio SDA Silver Signature Series and Acoustat Electrostatics They are used only for Classical Music and Jazz Music
I drive them with Home Brew SE Vacuum Tube Amp / Preamp with 6SN7, 300B driving 845 Triodes, Sounds Heavenly.
As far as B&O is concerned I use it for Movies and Little shin digs.
BoeLab 4000 2 pairs and Penta II driven by A/V 7000, RL -140 for Sun room driven by BM 7000
Love My Pentas, they Sound Amazing, Once I found proper Foam Surround for 3" drivers.
I Use them with B&W 10" Sub in the living room.
Love the convenience of B&O system very user friendly. They were so far ahead of their time in style and quality
