Hello all, This is my first post and I hope some of the knowledgeable folks on here might be able to shed some light on my query.

I have just acquired a pair of Beovox 5702. The foams on the kef bd139 are shot and the previous owner tried to repair by using some type of vinyl (sticky on one side) and covered the whole front of the abr and tried to recreate the surround roll with it..its ok but not optimal.

So I have a few questions

the replacement kef abr that are on sale (ebay)do not have the aluminium surrounds of the original so I would probably wait until some originals turn up.

(a) Is it possible to install a kef woofer (b139) and not wire it up? will it achieve the same thing?

(b)could i make a template and make a mdf baffle and fit one of the abr's from the beovox 5700 for the meantime until i can track down some good replacement kefs(I can get a pair really cheap) or would this change the sound too much?

I have seen people have made a baffle with a hole in it and think that the 5700 abrs couldnt make it any worse.

apologies if I have not explained myself very well

and thanks in advance to anyone that can share any info regarding my enquiries

mick
