Is A3 AirPlay enabled?

No. A3 is simply a dock for your iPad.

The iPad is AirPlay and you have to dock your iPad for A3 to work.

Have a look at the Airfoil app.  Load it on a Mac or PC and send the audio to multiple airplay devices.

Load Airfoild Speakers on the iPad in an A3 and it's a very neat and cheap multiroom audio system (single source)

But be careful: Beoplay A3 doesn't fit with the new lightning connector of the actual IPad!

I know unfortunately.  Mind you, that's why I got it so cheaply!  Do you think B&O or Apple will come up with a solution?

I don't think B&O will.

There's another thread about the subject - seems like the A3 will soon be discontinued.
Probably a wise decision...IMO it was a mistake to make a device that is so 'tied up' to one single device from another manufacturer.
Think about it: Shortly after the A3 was launched, a new iPad was launched with a new connector (lightning).

If B&O should make a new A3 with lightening connector - then soon after comes a new 'New iPad' - (with lightning, yes) - but probably with other dimensions that won't fit the A3 ...and so on...Crying

A small Company like B&O can not afford to make a new model everytime Apple decides to change the design (size) or connector of their iPads.

What about a special adaptor which would change the lightning connector into a 30 pin one, or vice versa?  Impossible probably

Yes, and you can fit it into the A3 with a hammer. Only problem, the A3 will be in pieces. Whistle

Oh! you want one that fits too???

Seriously, they are out there.

Just a bit of fiddling and hey, presto!

P.S. Anybody have a link for the 50% off the A3? I think I'd be a buyer at $275USD...

Ring your dealer and ask! My local dealer did no advertising of the offer, although I did get a mailshot from another dealer 150 miles away.

Do you think this would work with the A3?

Beonet. The a3 has no audio in connection so I don't think that Bluetooth thing will work. I have just bought an a3 half price I white. It's worth£225 but I don't think it was ever worth £445 same amount as an I pad. I am most happy with it, I keep my old ipad2 inside it . It would look crap if you didn't have the iPad inside it. If you wanted to listen to music from a distance keeping hold of your I pad why not try a beosound8 with that little Bluetooth thing that will work perfect? Also I have just set up my apple to properly so now I can acces all of my iTunes on my tv which is connected to my beosound9000 beolab 8000. Works a treat and sounds perfect. All in all the a3 is a great bit of kit, I use mine all the time it's good for FaceTime, Skype, watching tv, you tube and listening to music all hands free for a change.

i also put mine photo mode so it's like a digital photo frame

Hi David,

The Bluetooth thing connects onto the 30pin connector. I was then going to get some black speaker cloth to go over the iPad case which would the fill the big hole that the iPad should fill.

The wife has the iPad mini, so this Bluetooth thing would allow her to also play music to the A3 and anyone else with any device that can send audio over Bluetooth :-). Due to the price drop to £225 you should to pick up a second hand one for 100-150 or even less :).

Why does B&O not like Bluetooth? The beolit 12 would love abit of Bluetooth IMO!

Mods, etc...

To the clown (I know who you are) who keeps "unverifying" this thread...

Why? Unless you have some information that counters this -please stop.

May I remind YOU that a lot of time, money, and effort went into implementing the new software on BeoWorld with this feature.

It is there to help make the site better.

Let us use it so -or not at all.

Thanks.

Hi beonet. I didn't realise that it connected to the 30pin connector. Are you planning to hide it behind the speaker cloth? If you are. If you give me the measurements I will check it will fit if you like?

Maybe the unverifier is not happy to see a simple answer to a simple question!

Oh, so that is why this thread keeps popping up on my "not read" page, even without new posts...

I can only join burantek's request.

This whole Appleschmapple thing is not my field of expertise, but why would anybody want an A3 unless they want to keep an iPad IN it? There must be any number of better choices if you want to hold it separate during use. Sounds kind of like driving around the field with a golf cart instead of a tractor while the plow is sitting unattached in the center...

If the original poster is the unverifier (as might be suggested by the activity/online pages) then he needs to recognise that once the answer to the original post has been verified (which in this case was initially answered succinctly and correctly by Opman, an experienced B&O dealer) then the conversation about knitting a special cover to hide the non-apple device he is contemplating burying in the A3 can still carry on, or alternatively he can post a different question in the appropriate forum. The purpose of verification is not for the original poster to approve an answer to a different question that has developed further down the thread.
