I've loved the Beovision Horizon since I first laid my eyes on it, but laughed when I heard the price.  Nevertheless, I've been keeping my eyes on eBay hoping to one day pick up a used unit.

A pair of Beovision Horizons just showed up for sale on eBay in the states - one 40" and one 48".  For the 48" Horizon (with an LCD display) they are asking $4,200; in comparison, the current 77" LG C9 (same OLED display used in the flagship BeoVision Harmony) is about $4,500 and would come with a warranty

As another comparison, there is also a 48" LG OLED available for $1,500, which most certainly has a better picture than the 48" LCD in the Horizon. at roughly 1/3 the price they are asking for a used unit.

So my question for those "in the know" is what BeoVisions actually sell for on the used market.  I understand people paying some kind of premium for the B&O design and integration, but their asking price seems ridiculous.  (If I was going to spend $4,200 I'd get a brand new 65" LG C9 and a Beosound Stage, not a beautiful but used Horizon.)  Maybe people just don't sell them beacuase there isn't a good used market.  Or maybe I'm just out of my league in hoping to someday own a Beovision Horizon.

Any thoughts or insight will be appreciated.

I’ve seen two 48 Horizons go for just under £2,000 in the UK if that helps.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

You are definitely paying for the brand and something else. An LG OLED with Stage gives you better image and sound quality over the Horizon and IF you were to get the new LG GX series (55 inch) with a Stage  it would even look better IMHO than the Horizon. I guess you are paying for the floor stand. So if you add a Stage and 55 inch GX series OLED, the Horizon new is till around $2,000 more! That's a really expensive floor stand!

B&O in my life 😊:

  • Beolab 8002 + Beolab 2 + Beosound Core with Essence Remote (Office)
  • Beolab 6000 + Beolab 11 + Beosound Core with Essence Remote (Bedroom)
  • Beoplay A9 Mk2 (Living Room)
  • Beosound 1 with wireless dock (Portable)
  • Beosound Balance (Dining)
  • Beoplay H95 (Focused listening, travel)
  • Beoplay H9 (3rd gen) (retired)
  • Beoplay P6 (Portable)
  • Beotime wall clock (hallway entrance)
  • BMW X5 50i with B&O Audio Package (Commute/drive)

Well, if mine ever arrives, I'll let you know how the GX + Stage peforms.

I did consider the Horizon, but it's so expensive for a 48" non-OLED non-HDR screen at £4500. Also, the same dealer I bought the LG GX from claims a new Horizon is due before September (and before an Eclipse v2), so maybe it's worth waiting?

Maybe a New Horizon 48" with LG's 48" OLED panel is on the way?

B&O product history since 1991: Ridiculously long to list in a signature.

Thank you all for your input.

Knowing selling prices in the UK is helpful, and confirms my suspicions that the asking price is outrageous.  I expect it will stay on eBay for quite a while. :D

A product refresh with an OLED panel would be absolutely brilliant.  If they kept the visual appearance but replaced the sound system with something comparable to the BeoSound Stage I'd start saving up my money.  If they included the Active Room Compensation of the BeoSound Balance I'd start selling organs.

Thanks again for the input, everyone!
