Got a Beoviison 7-40 mk1 from 2005, I notice that it has a DVB connection and slots for a smart card.
In the menu I can choose DVI-I and HDMI 1 to 4
Its a Mark1 zo there are no HDMI connectios ? (maybe software update)
Is this TV HD Ready ?
Also the DVB connection is this T-S-C ?
I cannot find a Tuner menu to choose DTV
On the back there is a sticker with 8411 on it
Anybody had a 7-40 mk1 with DVB any advice welcome
Ken
Anybody ever had a Beovision 7-40 mk 1 ?
Hi,
Are you sure you found that type number on the TV and not on the speaker or stand ?
Not aware of any MK1 with that type number.
MK1 was not HD ready but I think you could upgrade a MK1 to a MK2. On a BeoVision 7-32 MK3 with HDTV tuner (DVB-T/C) you will see a cable coming out of the chassis which is connected to the DVI port on the back of the TV.
In the service menu DVB HD must be activated. You find other post describing how to access the service menu.
Sticker on the TV, is a 7-40mk1 no extra cables, just a extra ariel connectin voor DVB and two smartcard slots ? I guess its voor DVB -S but would like to be sure.
Why not look into the service menu of your BV7? Here you can find typenumber, item number, serial....
all built in modules like DVB, Masterlink....
Stefan
Have looked in the service menu, but cant see anything about the DVB module ??
Is it supposed to say DVB S or DVB T ?
I guess that I am the only one in the world to have a 7-40 mk 1 with DVB
I questioned the type number.
You did not reply.
What is the type number of your TV ?
MK I : 9351-9359
MK II : 9361-9369
MK III: 9370-9384, 9398
They do not match yours !
I don't have the type numbers of the later models. Sure someone else has.
TV is a Beovision 7-40 Mk1 Type 9351
The sticker in question is 1cm above the laser sticker and says *8411*
It is a sticker that the factory or dealer has placed for a update or extra for the tv.
Proberbly the DVB as this was not standard, or it could be a software update.
Ive had many Beovision 7 tv's but this is the first with a DVB connection en CI+ slots
Just want to find out what it is ??
To answer some of your questions:
From factory MK1 is not HD Ready. HD Ready means that it can handle HDCP (copy protection). However, a HD-Ready kit was available from Bang & Olufsen. It included hardware and a software update. I will basically upgrade a MK1 type 9351 to a MK2 type 9361. Never the less I do use the DVI input on my MK1 with a HDCP enabled source. The trick is to buy a cheep HDMI splitter which will remove the HDCP. But on MK1 you cannot assign e.g. DTV or V.MEM to DVI. You can only assign YPbPr. So you'll have to use the PC command on your Beo4 (AV4)
I do not know. I am aware that you could get a T/C tuner. Not sure if S is a separate module. Read this post and take your BV apart (remove back cov er) to locate the T/C board (if it is there): https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/18195.aspx
In this post you will also see that you can connect a HDMI/DVI cable to this board to get DVB in HD. This will of course also require that your TV got the HD-Ready kit.
See answer above... and/or remove the back cover of the TV to locate if the board is there or not.
I cannot explain why HDMI is mentioned in the menu. As you mention a incompatible software could be installed.
But on MK1 you cannot assign e.g. DTV or V.MEM to DVI. You can only assign YPbPr. So you'll have to use the PC command on your Beo4 (AV4) ??
I can use the DVI with VMEM or PC Command on the Beo4 depending on my setup
Have the decoder set at 720p AV4 HDMI to DVI adapter, and audio through the RCA plugs on AV4
works perfect, button TV-PC on my Beo4
Watching Digital TV is not the problem, just want to find out about the DVB connector and sticker *8411*
If a DVB connector and CI+ slots are present dose that mean that the board is not present ??
If you can select DVI as source for V.MEM and DTV then the TV must have got HD-ready kit which actually makes it a MK2. I would personally put a Scart>DIN adapter in AV1 or AV2 to have the convenience of selecting that as source for HD TV rather than using LIST/PC
My MK1 has an antenna F plug as well. The 'manual' says: For connection of an LNB. Only available if your
television is equipped with the optional DVB-S
module.
My TV has no CI slots. They are blocked.
Since you have CI slots you should have the DVB T/C card. My MK3 BV7-32 has the CI slots, DVB T/C tuner and a cable coming from inside the TV and connected to DVI for HD TV.
As written in a previous post you must be able to see this in the Service Menu (0 0 GO)
In my service menu I can activate the DVB Tuner and I can active it as SD TV or HD TV.
If not... I suggest to take of the back panel. Easy job.
Looked into the sercice menu and found under module information
Introduction Jan 12 2007
Version 0.1.2.0
Model 0.4.0.0
DBV-T
So I guess its DBV-T
It must have been added in the store as on the factory sticker under ACC its blank
Ther is no wire from inside the Tv to the DVI connection, so I guess there is no HD TV
Taking off the back is a pain as it means taking everything off the stand, also if I take the back off, I dont know what I am looking for ??
Also thee is no tuner menu for DTV
Thanks for the advice
