"Tech branding", bleagh. If it *sounded* like a Meridian speaker I'd care. My Magnavox TV (Funai) and General Electric dishwasher (Haier) just piped up and they both agree! We'll see what the B&O dashboard speaker in the so-called "Mustang" Mach-E says when I talk to it...
Re (3)#1, LG's website doesn't mention protocol or frequencies, and I'm too lazy to look up the FCC filing. Huge waste if they weren't the same as the sub's. Re (3)#2, better than half-price there: included! In return for the pain LG's remote brings to your eyes & your fingertips. "Ugly" comes from (of course) Old Norse -- "uggligr", meaning "to be dreaded"! But it works overall just as integrated with the TV, the speaker, and cable boxes, maybe even more so than B&O's remote requiring a downloaded app for the TV (when & if available).
Philistine that I am: I just read the Cliff's Notes for George Bernard Shaw's "Major Barbara" but still don't understand the Andrew Undershaft reference! And I wonder, if B&O "flexed its muscle", wouldn't it just make a mess on the dashboard?

Undershaft proclaimed that it was legitimate to sell arms to anyone with the money. Major Barbara is a great movie but better play.
poodleboy: trackbeo: Took 'em a while, but finally LG is selling their GX-matching soundbar. You might argue about its "design language" (kangaroo pouch) versus the Stage, but I like it: identical width, matching edge profile & vertical close-mount giving an integrated look. 65" only, wallmount only (but that's the point of a GX). Comes with a separate "wireless" "sub"woofer -- required, obviously, with that slim a box. Haven't heard it myself since it's brand-new, but presumably it has a less-spacious sound than the Stage because it's a basic L/C/R speaker and the crossover to the woofer is going to be pretty high. But to make up for that, it supports a true rear speaker pair; not clear if the wireless is built-in like the woofer or requiring their transmitter box. From: https://www.lg.com/us/home-audio/lg-gx-sound-bar : This should go well. 1. It is Meridian tech branding. 2. It is 1/2 the price 3. It has a separate sub (yuck) and WISA/Bluetooth for rear speakers? 3. It doesn't work with the BeoRemote. Weird that LG markets 2 "luxury" brands for their TV audio, plus their own. A bit like Andrew Undershaft. Wonder if B&O has flexed its muscle over this?

I am not sure there's enough Viagra in the world for B&O to flex it's "muscle" these days.
I like the looks of the LG bar, and if it supports a sub and surrounds...that's very cool.
As Uri Orlov said in "Lord Of War: "There are over 550 million firearms in worldwide circulation. That's one firearm for every twelve people on the planet. The only question is: How do we arm the other 11?"
I think LG will find out, arms dealers never go broke, and neither will they.
Jeff
I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
The Meridian branding is worth as much as B&O branding in HP Laptops..... Nothing
If I were B&O and would not care at all about this soundbar,
There is nothing special about it compared to the 100 other models from other brands.
The Stage just won the soundbar of the year in T3, and in my opinion the design, and craftmanship is much better than any other on the market.
But remember these are merely soundbars, not even B&O can get much sound out of a small box.

Well, they still haven't delivered the much-touted firmware upgrade to allow us to use the BeoRemote yet. Incredible.

I just wish it would work 100%. The occasional pauses appear to have been sorted out since the latest 2.0 Stage software upgrade, but the soundbar still (and very often) doesn't turn on with the TV. You have to turn the TV on and off again to get the Stage to turn on. This is very frustrating.

I know everything has slowed down at the moment - but is there any movement on the software upgrade of the TV GX/CX software to work with the Stage yet ?
Be interested to know when its available - then I might flick my CX 55 over to be controlled from a B&O remote (not a fan of the LG magic controller).
Mikipidia:Turn quick start off in the panel! It’s an lg thing where it doesn’t fully initialise all outputs when it’s in the sort of sleep state. C9 is fully functional but i suspect it’s because of the app overriding some of the LG things.
It's not an LG issue, it's the Stage. Since the Stage 2.0 software update it's completely fine now! Never had the issue at all, plus the intermittent pauses you'd hear in movies has gone, too!
ToeKneeAus: I know everything has slowed down at the moment - but is there any movement on the software upgrade of the TV GX/CX software to work with the Stage yet ?
No, nothing. I asked my dealer for an update and he replied:
"RE software update – it’s annoying, also effects our Harmony sales as we can’t utilise the GX without doing a rogue update, which we don’t advise."
As for things slowing down, this shouldn't affect software development as developer's can and do work from home, plus the support is already built in to the C9, so it really can't be that hard to add this support to the CX/GX!
Mikipidia:Good news! Have you downloaded the app yet? I think it’s in the new store now for the CX
It is indeed. You can now ignore my above comment!
Now that the software is out to allow b&O to co-exist with LG CX/GX - time for me to follow up and see if B&O Melbourne will supply me a 55” soundcentre to plug into my 55 cx.
Interesting , the language on the B&O app on the LG store says ...”The Bang & Olufsen TV app is an application that seamlessly integrates your Bang and Olufsen Soundcenter with your LGTV allowing you to operate your system via Bang & Olufsen (service) via Beo remote one.”
I’ll need to resolve the mounting - but it allows me to continue to use my lab6000’s and have an awesome centre speaker.
fingers crossed.
And it works! B&O app on the GX, BeoRemote paired and it's controlling the GX!
That's the good news. The less good news is that it's going to take some getting used too. I'm quite used to the superb LG pointer remote.
Also, no Sky Q control at all. Which means you can't even change channels on the BeoRemote. Huge shame. You have to pick up the Sky Q remote just to change to another channel.
But, it's working! BeoRemote control over the GX + Stage.
I'm still unfamiliar with the BR integration with the Stage + LG combination, but one must ask why it does nothing with the Sky Q.
Does the LG Magic Remote control the Q box to any degree?
Do keep us posted if anything changes over coming months - as it stands, it does seem to somewhat defeat the purpose of having a BR One, especially for something as fundamental as controlling a very mainstream set top box.

Was it controllable via the LG remote?
No, not in the slightest.
Someone said on here that the Sky Q box is deliberately non-operational from another remote. Sky designed it this way. The regular Sky box is, but not the Q. Perplexingly, Sky Q does show on the LG as a controllable device, but the LG magic remote does nothing when trying to control it.

Does anyone know how to setup the LG + Stage + BeoRemote so that the Sky Q box turns on automatically when you turn the TV on? Never works. I always have to find the Sky remote and turn the Sky box on first.
If I turn the LG on, from the LG or BeoRemote, the Sky Q box remains off. Doesn't seem to trigger it on.
Hi everyone,
Quick thank you to the contributors of this thread, in particular Moxxey. Stage and GX 65 installed yesterday. Had a custom built tv bench made for it.
Really happy with how it all turned out, the room is a small secondary tv room and quite squared off so the sound works perfectly. Re-watched Inception last night with wife and it was awesome, I am sure it will be mainly used by the kids for Peppa pig in the future ....
Only issue I have had is the stage does not always come on with the TV and I have to re-add it in the LG settings. Need to play around with this. It also took a few attempts to set it up with the beo app in the first place.
Now waiting for the remote and H95´s to arrive and this room is done.
Cheers,
Ammier
That looks good Ammier! Very clean. Inspiring actually! :-)

My compliments Ammier.
Beovision 7-55 MK1 red, Beolab 10 red. Beolab 50, all black. Beolab 17 broken ice. Beolab transmitter. Apple tv4 and apple express 2.

@Johan @RS4326 Thanks a lot! I take no credit, wife designed the bench and our awesome carpenter here Norway built it and installed the tv with me.
@trackbeo the Quick start is automatically on for first time use. Ive now turned on the earc which was off, just to mess around. Ill keep you posted but it does seem like the tv resets the ports when off. It doesn't happen every time though...

Thanks Ammier. I have a GX 55" + Stage and a GX 65" + Stage, but the 65" isn't yet in-use. I'm planning to shift furniture around end of October as the 65" is in "the snug" which is a better room for the winter months. Sadly, due to solid walls, I've not been able to hide the cables in the walls as easily as you and planning a move in the next 6 months, so my view is I'll setup properly after moving!
Looks amazing though! Love my setup. If you want a wall-mounted TV, you can't go wrong with the GX and Stage combo.

Thanks! Completely agree, its a great setup! After a couple of nights of movies I think its money well spent and the whole package wasn't that expensive comparatively speaking. We are in a new build here in Norway, moved in last year, there is about a 5 cm gap behind the plaster wall before you get to the insulation so the cable management was quite straight forward.

Thinking of my next place, was it easy to attach the TV wall mount? I have solid thick load-bearing walls in the current apartment and even on those the wall mount is starting to come away slightly! 65" is much heavier than the 55" on the other side of the same wall.
Makes me fear connecting the 65" to a plaster wall!

Hey,
We have a Beovision 11 downstairs which is wall mounted with the electric mount so it swings out. No issue with a plaster wall but we did use a ´Molly bolt´ screw which expands behind the wall.
Regards,

(Your multiple initial setup attempts indicate something else is going on, but I would like to know if the TV resetting all external ports by powering down fully is a panacea.)
Just to update on this. After turning on the earc option in the sound settings of the tv, I no longer have any issues with stage coming on with the tv.

Thanks. If it can take a BV11, it can definitely take a GX! I did notice those bolts when I did some research online.
I live in a high-rise building and the walls are all plaster walls and steel frame (so you have to use the toggle bolts on plaster since you can't drill into the steel frame) and it's very common to see 65 inch and larger TVs mounted directly to the wall. I am assuming some of the wall mounted storage units (like the ones in the kitchen) are probably much heavier than even a TV so if those stay on, a TV should as well). My 2 cents worth....
B&O in my life 😊:
Only 1.5 cents... because those kitchen cabinets in commercial construction high-rise are screwed into furring strips (often 6" wide ripped plywood pieces) which are themselves screwed between the metal studs, behind the flange (the drywall is screwed into the front side of the studs' flanges), at designated heights above the floor, specifically for cabinet installers. (Sometimes it's done in the bathroom too, for towel bars.) So kitchen cabinets have extra planning & material holding them up.
Molly bolts are excellent but make sure you buy for the proper thickness of the drywall. If not deep enough, the behind-the-wall portion digs thru the paper backing of the drywall, weakening it. If too deep, the pre-formed metal crimps don't angle against the backside but waggle around 1/4" in space. The dig-out of too-short Molly bolts is the same problem you get with toggle-bolt wings if you tighten them down too much. However toggle bolts can, if properly installed, support greater weight than Mollys. Toggle-bolts also work better when there is extra thickness that you can't buy a proper depth Molly for.
This problem is why many professional installers switched to Toggler anchors -- *NOT* the little Toggler SnapSkru self-drilling jobbies from Home Depot, but the 3" long Toggler SnapToggles, which have a pair of fixed zip-ties pulling the front flange to the rear toggle. You can carelessly just yank on the ties to get the flange seated without fear of digging out the back. This is important because "typical" installers are sometimes inexperienced and always in a big hurry and use a power screwdriver to tighten down regular toggle bolts, which can not only dig in but can start whirling around behind the wall if not held back properly.
Zip-Togglers are great, but I still chose to off-center my BV10 wall bracket by 1" just to hit an actual pre-existing wood stud! When you lift that sucker and consider the angled force rotated out from the wall, you just won't trust some crappy piece of thin metal or "engineered" plastic... But for a flat mounting of a modern lightweight panel, this would not be an issue. I should probably have ripped down my drywall to add a stud and do it right but I was lazy and in a hurry.
