Hi guys,
Thanks to the forum again, I was happy to bring back in shape a Beocord 5000. All is working fine, drawer, transport, display. I'm not a big fan of the pizza box design but I must admit this is something when you're in front of it! Anyway,I still will need to bother Dillen again to get new belts just in case. The ones in place are new and looks fine, but it's better to be sure to have the right one's (particularly for the drawer which right now open and close, but motor still spin few second after completion).
Anyway, the subject today is the recording level display. It runs fine, but the Right channel seems to be one bar late, meaning with all the usual flickering it's like the row below as one bar less, like if the level was one bar softer. I've tried with blank recorded tapes and factory pre-recorded tapes and it's the same. At listening with speaker or headphone (Form 1 ) I can't ear any level difference.
I've read that you can adjust playback level by channel, but I dont think I'm skilled enough to fiddle with this or any head adjustment and I dont want to mess the thing. But is there anything that come to you mind ? Like bargraph sensitivity or whatever ?
Another thing which I dont know if its related is that the recording level is quite low. Plugged on the only thing I have, a Beomaster 1001, I need to push the slider to 10 to have like 3 bars at peak. Can't say if it's from the deck or the setup.
Last thing if it can help to diagnose, pushing the volume in quiet moments, like end of side A, I can hear the other side reverse.
Thanks to anybody helping.
The drawer motor is timed. It will run for a given period of time every time you open or close. It's normal behaviour, that the motor is powered for a few seconds after closing completely. But if you can hear the motor running, the belt is most likely slipping.
It's also quite common to see these Beocords in need of a thorough service by now, - or at least re-calibrating.A low channel is a symptom of this.
The reording signal levels of the Beomaster 1001 and Beocord 5000 doesn't match.Beomaster 1001 is at "DIN" level, and the Beocord 5000 is at "line".Connect the Beocord to a Beomaster 5000, 6000, 8000 etc. and it'll be fine, I'm sure.

Thank you Martin.
I'm reassured with your answers, particularly the last one.
All the best.
