Due to the size of my new cinema room my beolab 1's will be too big for the room and im thinking of changing to beolab 3's all round for surrounds.

Is anybody useing the 3's as a surround speakers and what are they like?

Also has anyone connected beolabs to a av amp for dolby atmoss and what amp did you use?

I use a pair of BL3s as surrounds the BL90s upfront.

In context of that...they are OK.

I also have a pair running an Essense Mk2 in a sitting room. Compared to the modern gear they are muddy.

Surrounds and desk applications. Fine. But like everything else, B&O has moved on somewhat in terms of sound generation.

When you look at its size, you'll find yourself scratching your head trying to understand how B&O managed to get such amazing sound out of such a small speaker. Using them as speakers with my BeoSound 4, I was amazing at their great sound. However, when I added a BeoLab 2, I was blown away. Adding a BeoLab 2 truly elevates them into another league of loudspeaker.

I use them as rears in my surround setup - with 18s and 19 up front with my BV 12-65.

In this context they are pretty good.

I have a speaker group for music (background during dinner parties) which is just the pair of 3s. For this, they are. ok but I would never use them as main speakers, or speakers responsible for producing a big volume of sound (i.e.up front).

I have 4 of them for the back and surround roles, for me the perfect speaker for the job.  Size and potential postioning options on floor stand, wall mount and desk are perfect. e.g. With the wall bracket it is easy to point the speaker to the listing positions. Only ceiling mount does not work, STB Bracket used to have a solution.

I will get an other pair for the hights and with the used price now very reasonable for such an amazing speaker the way to go.

I have the same setup connected to BS5 and they are doing a very good job for that.

Small and incredible sound taking the size into account.
