I'm not new to B&O, but I'm new to Beo6. Seeing different eBay listings, and after reading many threads here, I found one thing unclear: is there a special "service" dock/charger (as advertised on eBay) for programming, or Beo6 can be configured using supplied charger as well (with USB cable connected to a PC)?
Also, I understood that Beo6 Config Tool can be used on 32bit Windows only... Is that correct?
Thanks
Damir
You only need a standard USB-A to USB-B cable to program it. You'll need to have the battery fully charged before you update date it. Then you'll want to charge it again before using it as the battery will deplete. The service charger is designed to continuously charge the remote while being updated.
Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there
Thank you for your answer
OK, so it means that success of my configuration effort depends on health of the built-in battery?
I thought that configuration is done on PC and then just transferred to Beo6 once done.
You do the configuration on the pc and then you upload it to Beo6 afterwards, the issue with the battery is only when you upload new firmware.

Hi Damir,
Yes, the internal battery is the gate keeper to the configuration software. So you'll want to do a full charge cycle before trying to configure the device again. Unfortunately the USB connection to a PC only supplies enough power for data transfers; so without a freshly charged replacement battery it's unlikely the unit will accept a new configuration.
I know that if there isn't a fresh battery installed; you can also use a pair of AA Batteries as a temporary solution to get the device back from the boot-loader lock, but that's more for diagnostics than anything.
As far as the bit rate of your machine; you will likely need a 32bit machine for the first fresh install; but the Beo6 is capable of running on a 64bit system when the OS is up to date. I usually restore a Beo 5/6 with a virtual machine running 32bit Windows XP; then switch to a Windows 10 machine once the firmware has been updated.
I hope this is helpful!

Thank you guys for your answers.
I am still waiting for my Beo6 to arrive so I can check the battery condition and start playing with it
Will update about my progress...
