Do a factory reset:

https://bogob2b.custhelp.com/app/answers/answer_view/a_id/7423/~/how-do-i-reset-beoplay-a9-%281st-generation%29-to-factory-settings%3F

Use the app for setup. It should be detected.

Also, check under WiFi on your iPhone if it appears there so you can connect it to your WiFi that way.

If you do a factory reset you will still need to set it up to your network via your B&O app

Here are some instructions if you might require them

I've tried factory reset but still no WiFi

Bluetooth yes WiFi no

Note no sound was emitted when reset as peraper lunkilink indicates -  it hasn't changed its name back to default in Bluetooth list either...

It's like it's not resetting properly

Doesn't it have a mode where it's Bluetooth or WiFi?

I thought it did, and maybe it's in BT mode?

Apologies if that's a dumb answer, I haven't read every response

Did you check for an update, whilst having the cable connected - (and did the update)?

How do I update if I cannot connect to WiFi but have a wired connection please?

Many thanks for your understanding

Andrew

When you say it has no wifi, what exactly do you mean? (with your A9 plugged in and turned on) :

1. You can't see it in your B&O app as a device? (that would be correct if you haven't set it up);

2. You can't see it in your iphone / ipad etc under the wifi menu?  If you have an iphone / ipad, when you tap > settings > wifi > what do you see?  do you see it under "set up as a new airplay speaker?"

when i view available wifi networks it doesn't appear.

when i try to add it to my B&O network - it also cannot find it the "A9 family" whilst scanning for it.

what does the network button at the base of the unit at the rear do?

Given that your wired connection is the same network as your wifi (where your iDevice is connected to), you must tap the plus in the upper left corner of the products screen/Bang & Olufsen app.

Then you have the option of choosing the A9 family

From there you set up the device (including updating) by choosing Products Settings -> Software.

what does the network button at the base of the unit at the rear do?

When i have pressed that before, i have used it to reset up a device, so it can set it up again, press it and see what happens (at this point nothing else is working).

thanks for all who attempted to help diagnose....
