Hi, I read that an audio master could be replaced with a beolink converter - so I bought one. I've connected the masterlink in and power and the output from AE to A.Aux IN, pressed CD, and CD came up on the avant but no sound, tried A.Aux but still no sound.
Does the Avant need to be set to a certain mode as there is no Audio Master or have I bought the wrong one that should have PC IN?
Any help much appreciated
Hi,
Which cable did you use to connect AE to A.Aux?
Have a look here: http://www.beoworld.org/beotech/wiring3.htm or here http://www.soundsheavenly.co.uk/bando-ipod.htm

Forget it - it won't work.
Just connect the AE to an analog-sound-in-socket on the Avant.
Or - even better - use one of the digital-in's (you will then need a small "toslink to coax-converter").

There is a tv - and there is a BV
It works - If done correctly, I've done already.
Avant offers video sources - it's not the best way to integrate audio sources as video sources.
Avant should be set to V.OPT 2. You will need a BL converter 1611 (there is no converter with PC in, I think you are talking about BL active(?).
If you have a Beo audio device - Beocord, Beogram... - you could check the setup using the DIN plug of that product.

Hi, thanks for the replies - I'll try again tonight with the avant in V.Opt2 - I think it is set to 1 at the moment - do I leave the Beovision 3 in my bedroom at 6? thanks again, it would be great if it did work. I thought about using the avant for audio, but 1 of the digital sockets is used by the DVD player and the other by apple tv, so best if I can get it working this way.
I think your Avant is already set to V.OPT2, because you said "CD" will be displayed on your Avant, wouldn`t do if it was set to V.OPT1....
V.OPT6 for your link TV is ok. so it will receive video- and audio commands in slave mode.
I`d try to select other audio modes too if "CD" doesn`t work, maybe A.AUX or A:TAPE (A.MEM).
And maybe it helps if you disconnect your Avant from the mains for 5-10 minutes and reconnect ?
Which cable are you using to connect AE and BL converter?
Maybe wiring/soldering are faulty?
Good luck
Hi, have just got it working - I set the Avant to Video Option 2, still no sound, then tried a DIN to 4 phono lead and tested the ends - two produced a buzz, plugged those into the DAC which is fed from the AE - and glorious music - it works on CD, Radio and Tape - really pleased and cannot thank you guys enough - at last its working and the beo app gives great radio reception too. So pleased, thanks again for everyone's help.

This is interesting... I have an unused beeline converter (1614... Is it also ok?). If I plug the headphone out of my bs5e to the aux input of the converter, should I be able to directly power on my bv8-40 on CD and speaker 2? Would be great! Can someone confirm??

Congratulations! So, it was the wiring. You connected your AE to the output sockets...
Have fun!
Thanks, yes it was the wiring, my AE is connected via an optic cable to a DAC and then onto the converter. The sound just from AE was bad but much punchier and clearer through the DAC, and all of it is in my attic with the router so no mess or wires in any of the rooms.
think I need a party now to show off the Pentas's playing wirelessley!
@ajames My apologies for the above-writing "Forget it - it won't work".
Can someone help me with my (possible or not) setup? That would be ideal... But maybe I need a BL converter 1611 instead of the 1614 I have...
1611
Are you sure about the 1611? Normally it should work with a 1614, because the difference between 1611 and 1614 is only that 1611 can provide link to a system without master (ie : a BC2300 with a Beolink speaker) which the 1614 can't. But here I have the BV8-40 as master, so it should work...
I will order a masterlink cable (hi Steve@soundsheavenly!!) and try with the 1614... If it doesn't work, I will buy a 1611 instead
@mbee I was not able to test the 1614 - the 1611 should work, but I am very interested in hearing if it works too.
When you report please describe your setup - since it may depent on how the setup is.
Might be easier for others who are interested.
@kai How are these passive speakers driven - do you mean the BeoLink Passive?
@kal The easiest solution would be to connect the AirPortExpress to the AUX of your Ouverture.
Put A-AUX in the list of the Beo4 and move it to one of the first places.
So just hit A-AUX to let the music play in the room yo chooce or in all rooms.
This way you can keep the speaker in the room with the Ouverture as it is now.
Sorry double post.

Hi mbee - mine is a 1611, but only works (I think) if you do not have an Audio Master, it provides one input back into the masterlink system. I think as you have an Audimaster linked it won't work.
kai:I'm interested in this, I have an old beosound overture which is getting old now it's linked to two passive kits upstairs if I take my overture away can I use the beolink convertor with an airport express instead to play music through the passive speakers!! I have no b & o tv.
I see no reason, why this setup shouldn`t work...(?) The BL converter 1611 can replace an audiomaster, and that`s what you actually are doing.
Converter is master connected via ML to two BL passive set to L.OPT 6 I assume.
I never tested your setup, but it`s definitely worth a try.

That`s really right...1611 can replace an audiomaster, the 1614 does not - as I remember from older threads - and we are talking about audiomaster, your BV8 is the videomaster. But, as you already have a 1614, just check it...
Masterlink cable is on its way to my home, I will soon be able to know if a 1614 can do it
Posting this question from another thread: 'Integrating Playmaker into Master Link setup'
(In case you haven't read that one):
I would like to know from the guys, who use a ML-converter as an audiomaster, how the Aux-port is activated in different rooms. In a room with an Active/PassiveLink - in a room with a Link-tv - in a room with a BL200/3500??? Always with the command: 'A-AUX'??? Has anyone already tried it with a BV11 and NL/ML-converter-setup??? Greetings Millemissen

I used to have a BL2000 in the kitchen using a 1611 and an iPod. I had to choose TV to get the sound from the iPod.
I never investigated whether this can be changed somehow.. It worked well enough, so I didn't bother.

Thanks Johan.
Anyone else???
Ok guys, I've connected the Encore with the 1614, and it works like a charm.
Now if somebody knows a way to force a fixed volume output on the Encore (maybe on a hidden service menu, if it's possible on a Playmaker, that would be cool on the Encore).

HI all
I really need help with a similar setup. At this point i have a BS3000 linked up to my BV 7-40 and an airport express connected to the aux in on the BS3000. Speakers are connected too BV 7. I can stream music to my entire ML setup using A-Mem. Now, when i try to replace my BS 3000 with a Beolink Converter (1611), leaving everything else unchanged, meaning unplugging BS3000, switching the ML cable to the Beolink Converter, switching the DIN to minijack in Airport express from aux in og BS3000 to aux in on Beolink converter, nothing happens? My tv switches to audio mode showing either CD, A-mem etc. but there is no sound regardless of audio source. Tried switching the Airport Express with my iPhone but this did not work either,
Can anyone please help??
TIA
