Hi all,

I noticed today that virtually all my multiroom products (old and new) had pending updates.
The result is quite wonderful, and I gather that B&O have been hard at work.

There is no longer any latency when activating BeoLink for Airplay sources!

This means that B&O products can be activated for Airplay 2 and Multiroom and be used in a mixed Airplay setting (with speakers by other manufacturers) in perfect sync.

What it also means is that I can now stream to one B&O product via Airplay 2 and JOIN five or six B&= individual products by touch to join, while adding third-party Airplay 2-enabled speakers in other rooms without losing sync.

Such a great and pleasant surprise, and a great leap forward.

... And it works with video, too. Perfect sync of sound and image. Bliss!

Lately, I feel the same way with you. They have been working more on the software department. I appreciate their hard work to deliver the software updates that improve our experience.

encouraging feedback - I think they have to catch up on beolink to keep it competitive.

Fornthe BeoSound Stage I would love to see the possibility to distribute line-in in a delayed way as you have it on the M3.

Or even better to have distribution of HDMI audio track (even if with delay.. am aware of the technical limitations). Have placed the request one year ago witg B&O.. so far no luck.

Both Sonos and Denon offer this feature..

anyway, I hope this positive trend continues

Checked my devices, M5 and Essence show they were updated a few days ago. Last update for Core was months ago and it shows no update available. Hopefully it will show up also.

Thanks Razlaw and Carolpa.

This version has a Beolink issue that I’m trying to get fixed since March. Hopefully they’ll find a solution.

Symptom: After the daily scheduled restart (not controllable by the end user), the Core can no longer join a Beolink multiroom, or be joined by other products. A manual restart clears the issue until the next daily scheduled restart

I’m looking for any other users’experience on this front.

I have been less than happy in the past about B&O's multiroom SW quality for different easons, now it is fair to say there is a massive improvement and the credit needs to be given to whomever in B&O took leadership to drive it.

The app here and there is still perhaps not the best in class UI example, but as for the multiroom experience it is in my view in many aspects really really good and I'm actually glad that you started this thread StKong.

Hi

I have the same issues at random times.. i have an Eclipse, BS35, 4 cores and it happens that one of the devices is not able to join the multiroom.. it plays on itself but no way to connect it to others in the network. The only way to solve is to reboot it... I already opened a case @customercare... they want me to sent log files as soon as the problem happens. The system can working for days without any problem... but then suddenly the problem occurs... all devices have fixed IP and are hardwired except BS35. For me it looks like the multiroom software part on the faulty device has crashed and does not restart by itself. All decices are reachable via IP without any problem...

I hope this new version can solve these issues

Nico

Yep, this is exactly the symptom and I’m glad to read you have the issue, while being sorry for you, as B&O claims I’m the only one to have reported it.

I managed to spot the issue in the logs, as well as by running some monitoring tools: At the end of scheduled restart process, the Core sends a remove mDNS message for the beocore service that the Beolink protocol seems to rely on, so it cannot participate correctly to Beolink network.

I managed to go back to 1.6.xxx software which does not have this issue.

What is a daily restart? I have not noticed that on my Core. Also, I have not had any problems with it joining or being joined. What do you mean by a manual restart? I looked through my settings. I have power saving unchecked. Just a thought about what might be a difference as to why I do not experience this problem.

Daily restart: Go to the Core configuration pages, check About, Diagnostics, Critical Events (or equivalent, I’m translating from French menu items). You may see regular daily Network State = Down

Manual restart: Go to the Core settings, Product parameters, Troubleshooting, Restart or equivalent

I do see some Network State Down entries, most recently 2 days ago. But they have not caused me any problems. They appear to be around midnight, assuming the times indicated are local.

Under Troubleshoot there is an option to reboot. Have never noticed it and certainly have never had to use it.

They are usually appearing at the same time of the day, when the product is not used.

Very similar to what mine shows. However, your appears to show it every day. With my Core it does not occur daily, it is much more sporadic and never needs a manual restart/reboot.

Interesting, thanks. I wonder why it's different. When looking at my Core logs, at the time the restart occurs, the process schedules the next day one. I'll ask B&O, will see if I get an answer.

I am glad to have learned of this feature. Now I can play the same music, in sync through a Core in one room, an Essence in another, a Beoplay V1 in a third room, and Apple TV’s connected to a Beovision 10 and a 20 year old Beovision Avant 32 in two other rooms.

This is very interesting news. I’m on vacation, so I have not been able to try it out on my own setup.

Is there any official documentation rgd. this updated functionality from B&O?

This. It only took a couple of years, but it’s so much better now. I used to hate accidentally joining to the TV then having to shut things down to get it right again.

First, I think a lot of people never knew about the Beolink feature, maybe because they didn't had enough capable B&O devices to make use of it, or, as I wrote earlier, because vendors don't promote this feature as it should. For me it was the main reason to acquire more B&O products.

Second, the recent software updates, Core excepted, seem to have improved AP2/Beolink cohabitation with other non-B&O AP2 devices, i.e. a B&O device receiving AP2 stream and having other B&O products joined to it via Beolink, are now all playing in perfect sync with other non-B&O AP2 devices, this is my understanding.

Thanks.

So no overhaul then?

not trying to be difficult, just asking, as even my stuff seems more or less well in sync, and generally always has (combining AP and NL)

Mine too has always been in sync airplaying video sound to my essence 2, even when also joined to my legacy masterlink speakers through the converter. Maybe to do with cooperation with other brand AP2 speakers as mentioned.

I have just tested the following scenario:

Beoplay M5 - Airplay for multi room enabled and BV11 joined via NL.

Music played to M5 via Airplay. Music in synch between M5 and BV11.

Beovision Eclipse joined via Airplay. Music on Eclipse out of sync with M5 and BV11.

To me this is business as usual, so no changes here from the latest sw update to M5.

Best regards - Dyssegaard

For me, video had always been out of sync when adding a link speaker. If I removed a speaker, the TV sound would remain out of sync. This is not the case anymore. I can join a link speaker to the Avant (NG) and it all works seamlessly and stays in sync.

I feel that a longer post is in place, but alas I haven’t the time right now.

Suffice to say that for my use-case, the updates have quite simply worked wonders and restored the user experience one used to expect from B&O.

There were so many limitations before hampering the UE. Add to that the fact that the app now allows for an independent value-fixed volume control of the NL/ML converter (where previously it could only be turned up and down but didn’t indicate what level it was currently playing at) it seems that Beolink Multiroom is indeed being taken seriously.

I will do a post explaining it all at a later stage.
