So I decided to go 5.1.2 for Dobly atmos in my living room. For stereo listening I have a pair Beolab 20 in the next room.
However my living room doesnt have a B&O TV ( Sony 85" )
What I currently have is :
- Denon AVR-X3500H
- 3 x B&O Palatial for L/R/C
- 2 x B&O Celestial BOC82
- 1 x SVS SB-16 Ultra Subwoofer.
My plan is to add rear speakers that can match the B&O L/R/C. The Celestial should handle the Atmos metadata.
Adding another pair of Celestial is not an option and due to the room layout it's quite difficult to have anything in Wall for rear speakers.
I was thinking of a pair of Beolab 3 but I believe it's going to be a waste of money for a surround speaker.
Room dimension is 4.9 m x 3.5 m ( 16ft x 11.5ft )
A pair of BeoLab 4000 speakers has quite a lot of flexibility in placement and can be obtained very inexpensively second-hand. I'm using 4 of them as my height speakers with my BeoSystem 4 in a 7.1.4 setup. I'm using BeoLab 6000s for my rears, but BeoLab 4000s could easily replace them.
A set of the BL3’s or - as beojeff suggested - better a set of the BL4000’s as surround speakers definitely are more important than some Atmos/ceiling speakers and should come first.
Rears only make sense in a 7.1-setup.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Thanks guys for the suggestion. I was leaning towards a BL 3 but the dealer wants to charge me 3900 USD ( with stand )
Also I have the impression that the BL3 will be more powerful than the Palatial, can you confirm?
I also have issue with speaker placement. Not sure where to put the two extra speakers. Rear is the only place I can think of.
Double post...
I suspect that you're correct about the BeoLab 3s being better than the Palatials. The BeoLab 3s are excellent speakers -- especially when a subwoofer is added. You can probably get a pair of BeoLab 4000s with some life left in them for $500 USD, and they're good speakers that really just disappear in the decor. Also, you have a lot of control with how to direct them when mounted on the wall -- especially so they won't have obstacles like floor speakers (such as my BeoLab 6000s) can have.
OK thanks I'll look into that.
So if I get a pair of BL4000, I'll be connecting it to the AVR pre-out. Now I was wondering and pardon me if I can't think clearly to figure it out but how am I going to control the volume on this pair?
Edit: Nevermind it should be controlled by the AVR. Wisa made me really away from amps.
