Beogram TX2 tonearm: bare wires bound together?

I was surprised to find that the wires inside the tonearm are bare (uninsulated), spiraled together, and as they exit to the little board, become insulated/color coded. There is no hum or any issue with channels, so I am at a loss why this arrangement would not cause an issue...?

They are lacquered individually.

Thanks for the reply. I panicked when I saw how thin they were, and hoped I was able to adequately reseal the compartment without nicking any of them.
