Wondering if anybody knows a software-based of adjusting the bass and treble on a Playmaker?

Some undocumented interface on the web server it runs? CURL 192.0.0.163 <parameters>

Seems like the only way of adjusting the bass is to buy a beo4 remote, and tweak from there.

Thoughts?

I used a PM for a while and am pretty sure that Bass and Treble can only be adjusted with a Beo4 (or equivalent).  Even then it's fairly hit and miss because there's no feedback of the settings.  The consensus in the threads on the subject suggest that the Bass and Treble can each be adjusted 5 steps up or down using the A.SETUP function on the remote.

Yes, only way is to use a beo4:

- Adjust bass/treble(downside is you can't visualise what you are setting, but it does work):
select A.mem to control the PM, then go to list, select a.setup, hit go (on older Beo4's without A.mem I think it is called A.tape). Then you see bass. Hitting list again changes it to treble. Listen to the sound, so you can hear the differences between the made bass and treble settings. This is because you can't see the selected adjustments. Bass and treble have 6 clicks up and 6 clicks down as possibilities.

So: +6 / +5 / +4 / +3 / +2 / +1 / zero / -1 / -2 / -3 / -4 / -5 / -6

I have a playmaker and works great.

(If you play a test-tone, for example using youtube, you can hear the difference while changing bass/treble. Use 50hz test tone for bass and 2000hz test tone for treble, you can hear little clicks/pops while changing. This is how I discovered it has 6 clicks up and 6 clicks down)

Ok, that's really useful, thank you.

Roughly how much of a bass boost do you get?

Let me describe the problem a little more clearly. The Beolab 3's I'm connected to sound *fantastic* when played really quite loud. Below that level, they sound kind of thin. Over quite a small increase in volume, they go from "a bit dull" to spectacular, but they make this transition just a little too loud for prolonged listening.

I can manually boost the bass with a graphic equalizer in software on my mac, and it mostly solves this problem, but there's no equivalent graphic equalizer solution for the iPad or any of the other devices we have in the house. The software kind of sucks, frankly.

Sounds like exactly the sort of problem that pushing the bass up a little might help.

Has anybody else seen this on the Beolab 3's?

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

What you need is Loudness.

Unfortunately after the following thread, it seems Loudness don't work on Playmaker…

Yes, that's exactly what I need! Thank you!

I have, I think, a Playmaker 1, which the thread suggests might well support the "loudness" function - I'll talk to B&O tech support and see if they can give me a definitive answer before lashing out on a Beo4.

It's annoying because the box has a web server and an interface to the network. Would it have killed them to make these things adjustable from there?

Loudness would maybe solve your 'problem', but indeed, the Playmaker doesn't have the loudness option. I tried.....

Maybe you can borrow a Beo4 from someone???
I have 4 Beo 4's lying around, only use 2 (but I live in The Netherlands)...
