Hi Guys,
I came across a (one) Beolab 4000 for 10€. Sold as faulty.It's black and in perfect cosmetic condition.
Believing chances were that a good cleaning from foam rot and maybe some tracks to jump will make her alive, I did go get her only to find it's a mark 2. I took her anyway…
The speaker don't turn green, stay red and emits a pulsing sound from the speakers when turned on (feed by music).
I've searched th forum for similar symptoms but without luck. Could someone tell me if it rings any bell?I know common faults are Stby power unit and/or Ice power amp. Is any of those related with the pulsing sound, or did somebody see a chance to repair it?
I've opened the unit but have not seen anything suspect inside, not even dust.
Any advice welcome.
Hybrid or ICEpower version?

Oh sh***, I believed MK2 were all Icepower.
Can't say for sure but when I opened it I saw PCB behind the tweeter with the 8 little IC that I've already seen in Marexy's BL4 thread.
Serial is: 20657143Type is 6642.
Most likely a bad ICEpower module, then.

Makes me think the MK1 problems that can be cured with just a good cleaning are close to lovely :-)

Well.. a cleaning isn't always enough. There's usually a handful of components affected by the dissolving foam material, but most are indeed repairable.
