Hello Beoworld!!

I just inherited a Beogram 2000 along with a Beogram 5000. This is all very new to me... I have a fully auto AT turntable that has never required anything but basic maintenance.

Hopefully the video link works... I plugged in the Beogram and it runs woo! However there is a very loud noise coming from the base when it’s turning, sounds kind of like scraping. Also the arm moves over the record but will not drop down, so I can’t tell if it’s spinning at the right speed anyways. It has an MMC 3 cartridge.

I called a local record shop owner to see if he could help. He said he could take a look for a few which he would credit to any repairs made, which is all fair but he also said that he does not have much experience with B&O and they aren’tyt his favorite to work with. From what I’ve gathered through around the internet I understand that they may require a certain... appreciation. So I thought I would start here, would kind of like the satisfaction of fixing it myself anyways if possible!

Thank you in advance for any feedback... if I sound like a total newbie, I am, but excited about this project and was told by the shop owner that if we can get it going the sound will be unmatched.

Hi,

It looks like the platter is sitting too high. If you remove the record and gently push down on the platter does it move? It should be able to move up and down on the suspension. If the there is no movement then it is probably locked down by the transport bolts. You would need to remove the platter to access the bolts.

Regards

Lonnie
