Hi everyone,
I'm using beolab 8000 with Beosaound 2500 and I was really satisfied, until
Today I noticed the led indicator on one of the 8000 is not
Showing red green or whatever colour, and no sound after switched on the palyer
I tried switching cables and still no sign for life.
I was listening 2 days ago and no problem whatsoever but now nothing...
It would be great, if the forum could help me with this problem.
Thank you very much in advance :)
Denis
Not very helpful, but my beolab 9 also died last week. No more led, no sound.
The fuse was blown, but after replacing, it immediately blew again. I brought it to my dealer for repair. I expect the power supply to be faulty, but I'm still awaiting diagnosis.
Beolit 12 - Beolab 4 pc (dead now) - Beoplay H5 - Beolab 9 - BeoRemote One BT - Beoplay M3
It could be the foam inside the speaker that caused a short. I had the same thing happen on a 8000 speakers.
Was playing fine then one day dead. Opened it up and the foam had turned to a sticky goo and started to corrode the boards.
Very important to remove the old foam and replace it.
Thanks for that answer,it sounds possible, any idea how to reach that foam, im looking for any information but there is not much. Is that the same foam around the speakers on beolab 6000 because I own them as fell and fix them but that doesn't affect the power supply, just the sound that made .
No its the foam inside the speaker cabinet, you can't see it unless you open the speaker cabinet. Its a very messy job trying to remove the foam which will be now completely sticky and almost like glue. Replacing the foam won't only save the boards but it will also improve the sound.
When there is no red led, you might hope that's only a burned trace due to foamrot. It's happens that the standby transformer is burned.
Isn't available anymore from B&O. I can supply an alternative (for the EU 230V market), the ebay version has the wrong specifications and is far to expensive.
Got it, I've just cleaned most of the foam, but still no result, maybe the guy Beobudy is right ..
If that's the case how can I order a standby transformer.
Thanks
Hi Beobuddy,
I just bought a pair of 8000 and one is not turning on the LED. Suggesting that the stby transformer is dead or the complete board.
Are still having spare parts for this?
Any chance that i could measure which is defect
Hi,I have these standby transformers (for 230V) indeed. They fit nicely in place of the old one.You first you should measure around the powersupply/transformer whether there is an AC voltage at the primairy and secundairy and/or any DC voltages available. Foamrot can cause the same sympton due to broken traces when old (version)foam has been placed.
Be careful and proceed only when you're capable of doing this.
Thanks for quick response. Which pins am i to measure the Primary and secondary voltage on for the Stby transformer
