Looks real cool and comfortable.

A hefty price though.

It seem to be some sort of control of volume (perhaps) by turning the wheel on the earcups.

They look really cool and comfortable. If they sound as great as they look, they will be very tempting, especially if the build quality is on point.

Thanks. I was waiting for this. FAQ is already online: https://bang-olufsen.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/sections/360010059272-Beoplay-H95

They do support multipoint. Unfortunately nothing about the possibility of changing the battery, which would be a nogo for me.

Your dealer can change the battery for you though. They got tired of people doing it wrong and getting loads of rma’s and all that. So bring it to you dealer and they’ll change it for you if needed.

Interesting & sad to hear. How could one do this wrong? I think it was a quite clever mechanism and a unique selling point for the whole range. Not a very sustainable decision bringing out a brand new 800,- EUR headphone today with a dealer servicable battery only. That´s a con to me.

Which high end brand does let you change the batteries yourself? The amount of people that even still manage to mess up usb ports(pre type c) is insane as people tend to go “it’s not going in so i must push harder”. Besides why do you care so much about a battery if it’s dealer servicable?! It’ll still work passively and they last for 5+ years. Swapping the battery isn’t some huge cost.

Agreed. Can’t see how it could even be possible to do it wrong. I’ve had H, H9i, H9 and many other devices with batteries such as drones, cameras etc. it’s simple.

Building it into it is stupid and should barely be legal today considering our throw away world. Stupid design. Won’t buy. Otherwise I like them.

This is much better than what a few of us here saw when the website was leaked a few weeks ago along with the Halo. Pricing then was $1000 or $1250, I can’t recall which. It looks like they reconsidered that and priced it at $800.

Currently: BeoLab 17, BeoLab 18, BeoSound Core, Beosound Level, Beosound A1 2nd Gen, BeoPlay S8 Connection Hub, Halo, Essence Remote

Previously: BeoSound 1 non-GVA

Haven’t seen much problems with USB-C and I work at a 10k employee company. I change batteries in my B&O headphones, as in my Fujifilm X-T3 camera and many other devices. Right to repair is a big thing coming on the US side and here too. It’s not rocket science and it’s great to be able to extend a long trip with several batteries if necessary.

It's not about other brands, it's about B&O. Former models were self-servicable, this new one is not. To me this is a change for the worse. And it's not about cost. It's about a dramatically shrinking dealer network and the -sorry- rather sad prospects for the whole brand. If investing this amount of cash into a headphone I want it to last longer than the end of the warranty. Besides the ecological aspect. Regarding passive function the FAQ may say it's not possible:

https://bang-olufsen.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048050832-What-do-I-do-when-the-Beoplay-H95-battery-has-no-power-

But I'm not shure, if it's meant for ANC only. Time will tell.

The leaked we dev site had them at 800 GBP, and now the official price is 700 GBP.

So some but not a huge change.

And it was a dev site, so who knows how old that pricing information was?!

Your dealer...

Seriously, we need to be careful in 2020 saying this so casually. Most people here don't have 'a dealer' anymore. Even in the UK now it's hard to find a local B&O dealer and in the US it's almost embarrassing.

I have been waiting six months for a repair man from my dealer. They had ten stores and are now one taking care of the entire region. Meaning slower than slow service. And of course it’s always an added cost when someone else has to do something that you before could easily do yourself in seconds. A surcharge on the item and service. Stupid.

Almost? Almost? It's beyond embarrassing and becoming downright pathetic. I know compared to Europe and the UK B&O has always kind of treated the US like a red headed stepchild, but this is far worse than I've ever seen it.

Well in the UK i think over 70 stores has become 30, and that number is likely to go down.

I’m in a family wealthy part of London, and where there were 2 stores within a mile of me, now both are gone.

The next nearest is still not far, but my options have become much fewer.

Luckily my nearest dealer is excellent, but if he goes then I’m stuck with the B&O franchises in Harrods, where the service and knowledge is not so good.

Recently bought a pair of the new Sony WH - 1000xm4 as my casual walkarounds.

You also can't change the battery yourself.

Although I accept there are a lot more Sony than B&O dealers I can't see what the deal-breaker is here.

Perhaps I should send them back :-)

You do as you please. B&O have had replaceable batteries in their bigger headphones always except for the h8i, the previous versions did also have replaceable batteries. Not every one care but fact is it’s gonna be more waste when batteries aren’t easily replaceable.

Which ones? Last gen H4, current gen H4, H9i and H9 didn’t iirc. Atleast not in a “click-pop and swap” way.

Besides if the new H95 are similar to the H9’s you can replace the battery by undoing 4 tiny screws.

Btw the battery is rated for a full charge and full empty every day for 5 years straight. That’s probably near max volume with anc on as the battery lasts more than a 24 hours with anc on and more than 48 hours with anc off.

Of the H9* range only the H9 third-gen lacked a user-replaceable battery.

Honestly, what becomes of H5s or E6s when they no longer hold a charge? Bottom of a drawer? Landfill? What a shameful waste.

Yes, B&O is not the only company manufacturing disposable products.

Yes, the number sold by B&O is less than sold by Sony / any other mass-market high quality brand.

But what about B&O’s social conscience? They actively chose to go from User-replaceable batteries to dealer-replaceable batteries.

Apple does this, but at least Apple has better presence. You can more easily find somewhere to do it.

I find it a disappointing move that underlines B&O’s conversion to a maker of disposable products.

Yes atleast apple is kind enough to hang netting to catch the workforce on the way down Stick out tongue

B&O’s stuff tend to last really long and tends to be fixable for many years sometimes decades after. The battery is replaceable, it just takes 10-15 mins longer to do it. If within warranty, the dealer does it and you keep the warranty. Outside of that it’s your own choice. Not to mention that they will keep on working passively until the end and without a battery.

BeoLab 4 amplifier module, anyone?

Moment jukebox?

Disintegrating Beocom 2 charger?

BeoSound 3 unresponsive touchpanel?

BeoSound Essence remote failing volume ring?

The H95 FAQ confirms that it DOESN’T work without a charged battery.

I didn’t say all but “most” and “tend to last” i can also give you a list of things that are out of warranty that can still be fixed if you like?!Huh?

I don’t trust the FAQ to be completely accurate. I trust that they won’t do bt or anc etc, in other words to work to it’s full potential. The reason is that i used my gen 2 H4’s i used for months on end passively. Last time i charged them for a trip was in May and I use them daily.

I think you can safely say this is as sarcastic and cynical a post as has ever been posted on beoworld unless, of course, it was serious. In that case, ignorance is orgasmic bliss.

Hey all. It's great to see a conversation going on here about these headphones. I'll gladly admit that I bought a pair. Though my story is a little odd so far. So Bang & Olufsen announced the H95's at 5am my time on Thursday (CDT Time Zone). I wake up at 5:20 am for work (yuck). Part of my morning ritual includes just scrolling through Facebook, and that's where I saw the ad for the Special Engraved Edition of the H95's. Even in my still somewhat sleepy grog, I knew I wanted these, even at that high price point. So I bought them!

I live in a very small town in Minnesota, and this is now the 4th set of headphones I've bought directly from B&O. Previously I had purchased H7's, H9i in Bronze (yes, it absolutely has a replaceable battery). My issue has always been that B&O uses UPS to deliver in my area, and they put a special clause on the shipping that requires me to be home to accept the delivery. I understand why they have that requirement, however, my current work schedule does not allow me to be home when they come by. This has caused me a ton of issues in the past, so I contacted support after placing my order in hopes to remove that requirement.

Surprisingly, the H95's showed up on Friday at my door! I was super excited, and really curious what my number would be.

Upon unboxing them, I documented this in a YouTube video, I found that I did not receive a numbered set. I've been in contact with B&O, and I really hope to get this sorted out.

I really like these headphones. The case is super cool, and so much more than the bag that I got with my H6's, H7's, and H9i's. I love the sound of these headphones. The bass is very punchy, and in my humble opinion, they might be better than my H6's.

I do find that I need the ANC on max for me to fully enjoy them, and I really like that the ANC doesn't have the hiss that my H9i's had. The volume wheel is kind of nice, though I find the left side ANC one not as useful. The 3.5mm headphone input is a little odd, it's actually a line level input, and volume is adjusted with the wheel on the right ear cup. So if you use a cable with headphone controls like I do, you'll have to adjust the headphones volume to max, and then adjust the volume with the cable. Kind of odd.

Anyway, those are my thoughts and findings.

Many thanks for the review and I hope you get the numbered set you requested.

As they say: wear them in good health :-)

The H95 FAQ confirms that it DOESN’T work without a charged battery.

I can also confirm that the H95’s will not play passively. The 3.5mm input is a line level input and uses the internal amplifier and volume control to operate.

Though this does open the opportunity for me to hook them up directly to my turntable phono stage.
