Hello Guys
A Prosperous, Healthy and Peaceful 2013 to you all.
Besides the 4002 I also have two 1900's which I bought many years ago and packed-away without using them
To get myself 'in gear' for starting the new year, I decided to 'do' something about my unused turntables and started yesterday with one of the 1900's (both with cracked lids. but that's another story).
I know about old lubrication getting hard etc and before starting the deck, I turned the motor by its spindle by hand and it was quite hard to turn.
I managed to place a drop or two "Elna" sewing maching oil into the bottom bearing and used a very fine superglue applicator tube to aim another drop or two at the top bearing, continuing to 'work' the motor by hand until it freed up considerably.
The idlerweel got some oil, as did the main bearing and these spin freely ad infinitum but...
it still runs very slow.
I had two new belts and fitted one of these (stored in talcum powder) so the belt is not the problem.
There is no oil on the drive spindle and the only part I have not checked properly is its idler wheel.
Observing the motor spinning it is quiet but slow, confirmed by the strobe markings.
Underneath under a cover, are what appears to be a spark suppressor (a resistor and a 265Vac capacitor?)
Do you think these two parts will cause the motor to run slow if the resistor has drifted from spec?
Thank you
