Good evening folks I'm new here so please be gentle.

My question is regarding my Beocenter 3500. Whilst tuning to an FM channel this evening the thread on the thumb wheels has appeared to have come loose unfortunately. So whilst at the furthest point right on the tuner the tread appears normal and as should be, when the slider for the tuner is moved left towards the centre of the beocenter the thread begins to peak out from within the facia, also this means that the radio other than a couple of stations no longer tunes in. Is it a big job to reattach the thread or is it an easy remedy that a complete novice like myself could undertake.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Not sure what is happening here.
Is it the rubber strip behind the slider, that has come lose? - The one the fingerwheels are pressed up against for friction.

Hello Martin and thanks for getting in touch

There appears to be a thread (thick cotton like in appearance) that must drive the tuning mechanism. So for a moment let's forget the two fine tuning thumb wheels and concentrate on the actual slider (clear plastic) which they are attached to. If I move the slider left or right no FM frequencies are picked up as it appears that the tread may have come off the tuning device, so the frequency stays in one place and doesn't move or tune in to any stations (if that makes sense)

Kind regards Graham

Inside the Beocenter, the tuning slider has a protruding pin that is glued to the dial string.
This is often found with the glue losened or the pin broken off.
Or the string could have snapped.

You will have to look inside.
