I don’t think I could pull off denim shorts at my age! Very stylish and cool chap.

Asked if Beolab 90 could be bettered, naturally answered ‘yes’. Such a successor would be an interesting concept. Wonder where they’d go after beam direction and room compensation....Perhaps some sort of immersive technology, like Fraunhofer.

Smaller, lighter, less empasis on imaging. Think of a giant A9 with prodigious power response, suitable for organ. I say screw the imaging-give me fidelity and power at a (reasonably) affordable price.

‘less empasis on imaging’......

If we are talking a pair of speakers - like the BL90’s is - there can be no improvement without ‘imaging’ as a key feature.

Making a speaker with the characteristic of an A9 with emphasis on ‘power’ and ‘fidelity’ - whatever that is -  would mean making something different.

This might be ok, but it would have rather little to do with ‘a bettered (pair of) BL90’, a successor.

Given that sitting down listening to music seems to be somewhat outdated, it might even be something to consider for B&O.

As for ‘screw imaging’, it should be rather easy to run the 90’s (or the 50’) in ‘screw imaging mode’

I don’t think imaging, timbre and power are mutually exclusive. In fact, quite the opposite. The sonic qualities above are always better in narrow beam even if I’m sat in the room next door with background music. Narrow beam sounds best no matter where I’m sat in the room or out of the room. A violin, piano etc sound more accurate and tonally correct in narrow than in wide or omni even if I’m sat in the dining room and separated by a wall with the music wafting down the corridor.

Barry, the *exact* opposite of what I’d want.

I became disposed to the goal I stated through extended listening over the years to my BS Century, BS2 (new), A9; my bedroom BV 8-32 and BV V1-32, as well as my Avant 32 CRT. I believe B&O tonemeisters have truly excelled at delivering truly satisfying sound when imaging is far less of a priority.

In the Geoff video, he sats less directionality (i.e., imaging) yields a smaller speaker. So I’d luv that signature integrated (mono?) sound, but with far more power and far deeper bass. I think I could actually afford one such speaker (and, of course, that’s all I would need).

Sort of a Shape without the shape wall of sound.
