Hi all,

So recently my 9000 started acting strangely.

Upon trying to start a CD by pressing a "side button" the device starts to think about it and after some 30 secs moves the sledge a centimeter or two. Then either pauses for another 30 secs and then moves the sledge again or simply gives up and shuts down.
Long story short, the CD does not start playing.

However...

By performing the following sequence I am able to get things running:

1. Press the "open lid button" (nothing happens)
2. Press the radio button. (nothing happens)
3. Wait with patience for 30 secs
4. The lid opens and now when I press a CD button it starts nicely

But once the CD ends and the sledge should move to the next CD it "stutters" and shuts down as described in the first paragraph.

Any ideas what I am up against here? Demons? Evil spirits? Mechanical problem?

Thanks,
Anders

Hi,

Please release sledge as described in service manual ( I use screwdriver and turn the big white gearwheel) and move it slowly down to see if there  aren't any obstackles stopping it. You may also open the motor cover to see if the wheel with holes is clean ( please see the picture)

So in the end it looks like the solution was just as easy as the behavior was weird.

The player is hanging vertically on the wall and because of this there was a dust build-up on the lower glass reflector for the finger protection. All it took was wiping off the dust and everything worked fine again.
