Hi All.
I bought this BS9000 in not very good condition, backup battery was leaking, and the left finger sensor had been broken, and glued on very badly. This is now fixed, and I also found a "new" old stock 12.6 laser with motors and case, in original packaging, it actually seems quite new, and it also plays cd's again.
However, there is a very loud noise when the laser is focusing, and also while playing, it is almost a scraping noise(best way to describe it), but nothing is scraping. It is not the turntable motor either.
It is there also when in PAUSE mode.
Sometimes with a very prestine CD, it will make the noise while focusing, but then it goes away, and plays silently until the next CD.
So this must have something to do with the focusing. What can cause such noise that is not mechanical ?
I wonder if there are bad caps, or if the laser is simply not as good as I suspect.
Any clues ?

I think you are not only one with that issue.
Had in past same problems with CDM12.6.
Usuly that is first generation of BS9000 with sw1.3 and type 2521

Mine is SW 1.4
So I guess nothing can be done for this 12.6 version? Other than used for parts :)
Try to change pcb and and CDM 12.6 for 12.05 ...
PCB must be for CDM 12.05 ONLY!!

I do not have other PCB's, I only have a MK3 kit, but this will not fit this unit.
Yes... i hthink not...
Mk3 CDM are for Mk2 and higher version of bs9000..but maybe i am wrong...

Exactly, at one point I had a MK1 with PCB42 I think, that was made to support VAM1250 in the MK1. This 9000 has 3 pcb's.
Oh well, I think that these 12.6 MK1's are just the worst version to get running again. There is not a lot of information about 12.6 lasers, and which other Philips CD's that use them.
