Hi fellow B&O enthusiasts,

It has been discussed at length many times already but I’m completely lost regarding the sales strategy of Bang & Olufsen...

The price of the Harmony - wooden covers was €14.000 until recently. A lot of money and it was pitched by many that the price would drop as the screens of LG drop in price rapidly.

Now I noticed that the price of the Harmony has been increased to €15.600. This is a increase of 11,5% which is an insane amount. Assuming that the screens of LG have dropped approx. €1000 already, the increase has been 20%. Whatever the reason (rumoured cost of aluminium increased), this is not reasonable and I cannot get my mind around it.

With this price strategy the company is doomed to fail. They are so not transparent, even a normal price list is no longer available.

Please B&O, take your (potential) customers seriously and keep to your promises: lower the prices of the panels following the market if possible. And whatever reason, you cannot increase prices like this, annual inflation is around 1-2%!

Nou dit is de prijs op de site uit Roermond:

  • BeoVision Harmony 65 met houten covers en 65” LG GX6 OLED-tv €14.600
  • BeoVision Harmony 65 met textielcovers en 65” LG GX6 OLED-tv €13.600

Ik betwijfel of die prijs goed is. Op B&O site staat een veel lager bedrag. Voor de aardigheid moet een eens bij een dealer informeren. De prijs die jij noemt is absurd.

Het B&O deel is vast, uit m’n hoofd is het iets van 10.500 voor stof- en 11.500 voor met houten fronten en dan de lg aanbevolen prijs. Die lg aanbevolen prijs is niet altijd het zelfde als “de goedkoopste” maar het staat je vrij om dat zelf regelen natuurlijk. Maar je kan nu ook nog kiezen tussen de C9 of CX. Daarnaast blijft de lg aanbevolen prijs zakken en is de lg C9 77” iets van 3000 euro minder dan bij lancering. De prijsverhoging zit voornamelijk in verandering van het mechanisme, mijne bvb kan de 88” niet dragen maar alle nieuwere varianten zijn sterker en kunnen het wel.

Michael, dank voor de uitleg, toch vind ik het een enorme verhoging. De uitleg maakt het al iets duidelijker, los van prijs is dat mijn irritatie. Het is allemaal zo onduidelijk, liep laatst dealer in: nee we werken niet meer met prijslijsten...

Sorry about that, we were debating the reasons for the price increase. Mikipidia mentioned that the panels are subject of price changes, following market prices of LG. Also he stated that the stand is more expensive due to stronger motors and can lift all sizes now.

I reacted that this clarification gives me some more insight and comfort but I still feel B&O should be more transparant on their pricing and an increase of such is still very much.

So feel free to elaborate on this topic also.

You did mention inflation at 1-2%, but in some markets there is deflation and countries that use a CPI Consumer Price Index, on year, can actually be negative, so a huge increase is silly.

I don’t even think the McDonalds index which a lot of companies use for international pricing is considered.

I guess that currency exchange is their main driver.

Thanks for the info about the stand being able to lift all sizes now
