The indicator light on my base station is constantly red but does show green for a minute or two if I pick up and replace the handset. The phone seem to be charging OK and makes and receives calls. I have cleaned the contacts but to no avail. It is a mk 2 phone but I don’t know about the base.
Any suggestions welcome.
John
Hi John, and welcome to the forum!
That is exactly how mine behaves - I too have a Mk 2 (modified from Mk 1) BC6000 on a Mk1 PSTN base.
The important thing is that the little green light on the Beocom handset should be green when it is placed on the base and charging.
There's probably a small compatibility problem between the Mk1 base and Mk2 phone, but I see it as a feature
The issue is the difference in the base between Mark 1 and 2 as below
Regards Keith....
Hi Keith,
Just to clarify for the OP: Mine is actually a Mk2 that was a Mk1 in a former life. It has the base connections of the Mk1 (your right hand photo), but the internals and keyboard of the Mk2 (i.e including the 'INT' button to the left of the selector wheel). This 'upgraded' BC6000 also does not feature the headphone socket at the top that is present on 'proper' Mk2s.
I am guessing that the OP has an upgraded BC6000 like mine; this will charge fine on the Mk1 base.
Regards Guy
The contacts on my handset are as per Keith's righthand photo and has the "INT" button. My base station contacts are as in the photo.

Does that make it a mk1 base?
Yes that’s a Mk1 base like mine.
Many thanks foe all this. Does a MK 2 pyramid base station actually exist? None on eBay that I can see!

No they moved to separate chargers and PSTN. There is actually a Mk2 pyramid base, but it is only a charger and does not include the PSTN (to connect to your phone line). You have to be a bit careful with compatibility, as explained here: https://www.beoworld.org/faq_view.asp?id=74
Here's a Mk2 charger (wall mounted), as an example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bang-and-Olufsen-B-O-Beocom-6000-Telephone-Charger-Mk2-Aluminium-Wall-Mount-WM-4/224148690697?hash=item34304d9709:g:7UoAAOSwmY9fPsf~
Good evening! I also have a BeoCom 6000 pyramid base station that for a day or two behaves strangely. When the hand-set is out the light on the base station is constant red, as it should be, but when I place the hand-set on it, it starts toggling between off, red and green.
It worked fine for some years, until now. The phone still does work btw. It looks like the base station is not correctly reacting to the hand-set and cannot decide if it is placed or not.
I tried some things: use another handset on it, clean the contacts, switch the handset off and on, unplug it for half an hour. Still it stays the same.
Has anyone seen this before? Is there something that I can do to fix it? Or should I just find another base and hope that one is better?
Thanks, Johan
Solved it! I thought of one more thing to swap - the power supply. I swapped it with another one I had lying around.
Have a good evening.
