Just wondering is the Beosound core that comes with the BS 8.2 the same as the Beosound core sold individually?

Hi Oasis,

By “BS 8.2” I assume you are referring to BeoPlay S8 with two satellite speakers.

The device sold to be used with the Beoplay S8 was the Connection Hub. This is an entirely different device from the BeoSound Core, although it looks similar.

The Connection Hub was designed to integrate non-B&O televisions with B&O speakers, principally the Beoplay S8.

BeoSound Core is a Network Link audio source of its own, so has TuneIn and other streaming source capabilities built in, as well as being multi-room compatible in a B&O NL network.

I have seen a number of listings on eBay mis-selling the Connection Hub as a BeoSound Core. If they do this in the UK they are breaking the law by mis-describing the device.

Do not be deceived. You can tell the difference by looking at the device name and Type No. cast into the plastic on the base of the unit. A real BeoSound Core will be named as such, and have Type No. 2797 (MkI) or 3051 (MkII). There may be other variants where the last digit of the type number varies. Just google images of each and you will also see differences in the port configuration on the back of the unit.

Hope this helps,

Lawrence
