Hi all. I've inherited by brother's old Beo 4500 kit, and am encountering a couple of issues with it.
The minor issue is that the tape player only runs for a brief amount of time and is spooling the tapes up. It seems the right hand spoke isn't turning, causing a load of tape to bunch on the right hand of the tape as you look at it, and then it turns off. I say minor as we don't really listen to cassettes and would only be setting it up for completion's sake. Also, it seems to me like a bit of oil should get that turning again? Just seems to have seized.
The more pressing issue is the CD player. It powers up when you press play, but after about three seconds it shuts down. I know the glass fell off at some point and was stuck back on – is it possible something is interfering underneath the glass, and if so does anyone have any pointers on where I should look to clean it?
Cheers in advance!
Beocord 4500; Replace the belts and, depending on drive version, free up the tape reels from dried old lubricants and add fresh.
Beogram CD 4500; Replace capacitors on the servo board (DON'T adjust anything!).

Hi Martin,
I have the same issue that after pressing play the cd turns off after few seconds. Somewhere else in the forum I have read about replacing the capacitators and that it would be possible to buy a repair cap kit.
Will you be able to supply this or do you know where I can buy it?
Best regards,
Johnny
