Michael:And 1000 euro more than any other anodized color. I guess B&O found a new way to earn money (not on me though, I’m too poor or cheap to spend that surplus on a specific color when the other colors of the same kind of production is no extra cost at all) - but I get it, it’s a limited edition but seriously why, it’s beautiful and blue fits in so many homes.

It’s because Bang & Olufsen (also) is a design driven company.
If there are costumers for these special edition - and it seems there are - I am totally fine with them earning some extra money there.
By the way - the anodizing process for small seriesis is pretty costy.
I like it - I think it is stunningly beatyful...... congrats to all the coming owners.
P.S. However, I would not count that as ‘a new product’!

Gulp!
I was just about to say, lovely colour, then saw the price
ngnear:Limited to 10 units.
Why only 10? Makes no sense at all. Nothing makes any sense anymore. My head hurts.

Michael: I hope B&O makes use of this 10 000 euro that it boosts and probably also makes zero point economy wise for the brand. As far as brand image I think it hurt them more to make super exclusive colors that is 50% of the device itself in extra cost. I value myself as a B&O customer that works hard for his money and even though I’m not poor I don’t throw money around me. If I was living on an oil pit I maybe would. And if B&O rather cater to that group than hard working individuals as myself - then what message does that send?

That really is nothing new!!!
Luckily those of us who do not happen to live ‘on an oil pit’ are able to find B&O products, that may suit our needs and our wallets.

Sorry....did not mean to yel.
Think of the prices for the BV4-103....those were meant for russian oligarchs...
The 90’s are definitely in a price range, that is unreachable for me....
And more..

Good :) Well, yes it was expensive but it was also a very expensive device to manufacture in every single way back then. Now we put 86" monitors in every conference room (they cost about 2000 euro). anyway, what I meant was that this limited color run is 1000 euro extra and it is simply just another color. If they had made it a longer production run it would have been the same price, just as with so many other devices they produce in many colors and materials (leather, plastic, metal). I feel that making this limited run, and making the price so high for the color itself is just arrogant and meaningless. This is simply a campaign only for the super rich who does not have to care about 1000 euro here or there. I do not see the common B&O customer as a wasteful person but someone who invests in quality and spends his or her money in a good way on high quality and design. But a 1000 euro surplus for a blue color? I don't see that combine well.. rather the opposite. See my point?
I don’t see a limit of 10 pieces mentuoned any where.
@ngear Where did you find that?
Remember the Limited Edition of the BL12 from Miya Ando
https://legattolifestyle.com/bang-olufsen-special-edition-beolab-12-loudspeakers-miya-ando/
However I have no idea, how much they did cost.
Overall: I have no problems with this - and don’t see it as arrogant and meaningless.
And I have no problem with you seeing that.
No need for further discussion frim my side there.
To each his own. I guess it just makes me a bit annoyed and its not how I want the brand to grow but who cares about someone who has invested more than 100 000 euro in the brand and is below 40. Probably not a customer worth keeping :D.
Anyway, here is the information from B&Os instagram:
Meet the Beosound 1 – Factory 5 Edition in Sapphire Blue. Only 10 units have been made in this unique colourway which has been developed at our renowned Factory 5. The product will be available from the 14th Oct in selected markets.
Millemissen: I don’t see a limit of 10 pieces mentuoned any where.
It's also on Facebook and other locations. 10 is really really limited. Perplexing me.
I'd rather see a smaller premium (say 500€ max), but a larger number.
My other concern is, say I bought this colour, knowing my luck an even better bespoke colour would be announced the next month

I heard today that there is a Champagne colour coming (regular availability, not custom) to sit between the aluminium and brass versions.
I love the blue!!

Yes, yes - understood!
10 are a bit few, I must confess.
Maybe there were only 10 from that production series, that have passed the test ;-))))
I wonder how the price on the ‘second hand market’ will be.
An investment object, maybe......if you can get your hands on one, at all.
10 from Struer and 100.000 from Hangzhou.

"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"
The price of a B&O product has been discussed over and over. We all know that the price of certain B&O products have absolutely no relevance compared to other brands in the same product categoty.
It's just a mindset switch. In my personal opinion and mindset: if I a product (B&O or not) is just too expensive for me then I won't start complaining about it. The price of a product is what a certain person is willing to pay for it.
Some people call me crazy when I purchase a 4500€ camera and 3000€ lens where as I think that 400€ for a jeans is absurd.
Anyway... the 2500€ pricepoint for a BeoSound 1. I guess that the 10.000€ extra revenue in total will not cover the testruns in anodisation/marketing/salescost.

Interesting. I quite like the blue, but it's too shiny for me. I'd love an alternative brushed aluminium colour.

I had a bit of a thought on this. It could be a 'special project' colour which was commissioned by a company? If they wanted to order 90, but B&O needed to produce min 100, that would explain why they have 10 left from the run.
I've done something similar with clothing (don't ask). I commissioned a factory to produce a certain pullover in a particular custom colour but they needed a minimum run. I committed to mine, someone else also joined me and there were 2 left from that batch. We paid a premium price, but the factory then had an additional 2.
Can't think of any other reason why they'd bother with only 10!

Hadn't thought of that... Valid point!

Oh, good god, give me strength. Does no-one grammar-check stuff any more or do they just assume Instagrammers either won't notice or won't care?
