Removed the "camouflage" of a NL/ML converter and found 2 RCA and 2 more RJ45 sockets.
Good Lord man! Are you trying to get us all killed?
We kid because we love.
"The BeoLink Converter will have the Power Link sockets enabled, which means you can connect e.g. a pair of loudspeakers in a link room to the BeoLink Converter, install an IR eye and get sound distribution to this room from any audio or video source in the system."
Greetings MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Hallo Räber,
abwarten, Tee trinken - du wirst Wunder erleben.
Aber frag doch mal deinen Händler
Gruss MM
There you go - puss is back.
@Räuber Surely they could learn from us - or they could do their homework
Grrr! MM
P.S. As for the NL-converter as a BeoLinkActice: You might say so....
I missed something. Who is "they", what could they "learn from us", and what "homework" should they do?
Millemissen: ... BeoLink Converter will have the Power Link sockets enabled ...
... it's important to stress "WILL HAVE" ...
I wonder if the "already-owners" of the BeoLink-converter will have to pay for getting them "enabled".
But I suppose that we will soon learn more.
Greetings Millemissen
@symmes As for "they" and "learn from us" you must ask Räuber.
He probably meant "some of" the dealers - and - a lot of very well informed, experienced and devoted Beoworlders
"Homework" means actively using the information, that is provided from B&O/support.
Grrr! Millemissen
Easy now - one step at a time.
MartinW:I am really looking forward to seeing NL develop as I am sure there is much more to see. I was amazed when one day I managed to get the sound from a Blu Ray player connect via HDMI on a BV11-40 to play on a BV11-55 in another room - wirelessly!!! Some great connectivity ahead i'm sure!
I am amazed too ! Was there a special trick ?
And this thread is like a CIA code book ... or an Enigma translation gone wrong ... even Herr Google could not help me
BeoNut since '75
I think the post from MartinW expresses his wishes for "new" functions of the NL/ML-converter.
These wishes have already come true - you just have to use the PUC/HDMI-solution.
OK - maybe not a wireless solution - but that might come some day
But has nothing to do with the new soon coming features of the NL/ML-converter.

Dear friend,
after X-Mas is before X-Mas - so let's write a "WISH LIST" :
(Knowing that the new Network Link Converter is recently able to convert analogue ML audio and ML data into TCP/IP routable digital audio including data to control the NL video masterand vice versa)
NL BeoLink Video for audio ditribution
- additional BV11s as slave TVs in NL Link rooms - no time delay between the rooms (party mode) for distributed audio
NL for Play V1 series - 32" is a nice size for a TV in the kitchen/bathroom/...especially when ceiling mounted ...
NL BeoLink Active having at least the same possibilities in a routable TCP/IP systemas the recent BeoLink Active has in the ML system
- external IR receiver / manual control for convenient installations- no time delay between the rooms (party mode)- local sound control- connecting a local source à la PC input via RCA/Phono
? maybe a wireless option (built in or using an USB dongle à la BeoMaster 5)
@MartinW "No trick involved! It just showed up as a source so i clicked on it and hey presto!"
Could you please describe that a litle more - with screenshot/photos, if possible?
I had hoped for a preview of a NL-based Audioproduct and/or of a successor for the BV7 with NL during the CES.
All we got was a set of passive BeoLab-speakers with an Amplifier1.
We need these new products if NL should make sense!
Dear Vienna,
may all your wishes come true - or at least some of them:

Product Management Update BeoPlay V1 now compatible with BeoLink Converter We are pleased to inform you that with the next software update we will introduce Network Link compatibility in BeoPlay V1. In this first step, BeoPlay V1 will be able to work as a main room TV on par with BeoVision 11 connecting to a Master Link system via BeoLink Converter . With this update, you can still only have one Network Link TV in a setup, but you can integrate with the Master Link system withBeoPlay V1 as well, e.g. make a setup with an audio master and BeoPlay V1. Full link room capabilities During spring we will further develop the Network Link capabilities to include echo-free sound distribution (Party-mode)as well as the possibility to allow both BeoPlay V1 and BeoVision 11 to work as a link room TV in a Network Link setup with either BeoVision 11 or another BeoPlay V1 in the main room. This means you can connect multiple Network Link TVs in the setup and distribute sound to one or all of them simultaneously. The BeoLink Converter will have the Power Link sockets enabled, which means you can connect e.g. a pair of loudspeakers in a link room to the BeoLink Converter, install an IR eye and get sound distribution to this room from any audio or video source in the system.

This is official - every dealer should know. They have exactly the same information.
Millemissen: ...may all your wishes come true ...
I'm "quite" confident most of the topics on my "WISH LIST" will be fulfilled till next X-MAS ... LOL
Millemissen: This is official - every dealer should know. They have exactly the same information.
Finally I'm "absolutely" confident members like "elephant" can read between the lines of a "WISH LIST" and are able to draw appropriate conclusions ...
soon to be unpacked

Hi Räuber,
just ask your dealer - he should know
Gruss Millemissen
Raeuber:... will be no more Masterlink cable required, only CAT 6/7 cable ...
If your recent ML installation uses CAT 6/7 cables (as been suggested by B&O in the "New Installation Concept"since some years) and you want to replace a ML-component (eg a BV10) by a NL-unit (eg a BV11) you'll simply have to disconnect the patch cable from ML-Distributor and patch it to the switch used for the Network Link.Of course you'll have to exchange the cable to the link component from RJ45<>ML to RJ45<>RJ45 too ...
Millemissen:Hi Räuber, just ask your dealer - he should know Gruss Millemissen
Raeuber:If you want only connect two Beovisions/Beoplays, why the NL/ML converter will be necessary, there is nothing to convert?
Right, if there are no analogue (ML) audio sources or ML clients (link-rooms), there is nothing to be converted. To connect to the NAS/Computer containing your video and/or audio library Ethernet, via cable or WiFi, is sufficient.
Read:
"During spring we will further develop the Network Link capabilities"
Of cource you will not need the converter for what you suggest.
Read the explanation above from Vienna.
Indeed very very interesting. Did you dare to open the hood Vienna? That would probably disclose some of the potential in the NL/ML converter. (I understand if you do not want to open it further)
In principle the PM could have the same HW (IR is build in) except from the ML unit and could be updated with a firmware update. Interesting if the price tag overhead only relate to the ML chip and connector, and USB.
Looking forward to see B&Os NL products, and how the PM, NL/ML converter and the new NL/ML gateway will take part in this.
A very exciting spring is ahead of us.
Kelwin:Interesting if the price tag overhead only relate to the ML chip and connector, and USB.
Don't forget the ALUMINIUM front panel! The lack of this "feature" has caused a lot of dicussions during introduction of the PM ...
I talked with a dealer/techie who took the NL/ML converter apart recently. He says that
there is an inbuilt audio engine as well as memory chip. In other words, the possibility
is there to add not only an automation program in the NL/ML, but the same engine
is in the BM5/BS5e which suggests that a software update might allow all of these
products to be controlled over IP with built in discrete commands. Also, it appears
that with the NL protocol a system can have several "masters" so that link rooms/products
can retrieve certain sources from certain masters. IE> master bath links to master bedroom
but master bedroom links to entertainment room. . .
sounds like all of the great things that ML can do and a LOT more. . maybe this NL move
is going to be something that moves us in to a new horizon..
also of note, with an RJ45 out (to the network switch) and inbuilt memory, the NL/ML converter
should be able to control ANYTHING connected over IP. . opens a lot of possibilities
That is exactly what I have said months ago.
"retrieve certain sources from certain masters" - that is what I called "multisource".
The NL/ ML-converter will also be able to act as a "Beolink Active".
For sure there is more to come.
I wish that people would stop complaining about Bang & Olufsen.
Sit back and enjoy your already exellent video/audio-system - and wait for new things to happen.
And maybe some of us should start saving some money 'for a rainy day'.
StUrrock:In order to help dealers/customers B&O really should be giving more solid information about the proposed functionality of NL. As a perspective purchaser of B&O I, for one, would be very reluctant to part with a load of my hard earned cash without any certainty of how my purchase would interact with future products. This rumor mill I do find rather tiresome, B&O as wonderful as they are do have a track record of promising a lot and then letting us down, BS5E for example. So until I see written commitment to what NL is supposed to achieve, I shall remain a sceptic.

Hi Vienna,
long time ago (!) you discovered some of the hidden gems of the NL/ML Converter.
Some time later I read about a 'coming update' that would make it possible to use the converter as an 'Active Link' in the future.
Maybe this future is now near?
Have a look a the attached file I just came across - dated 06.13!
N.B. now we have to decide where to place the converter - if this will be possible, it should not be shoved away in the cellar/attics.
And we must wait to see what else this 'small engine' is capable of!
