Hi all,
Seems like 2020 has unfortunately been the year some of my B&O gear have chosen to give up the ghost! First my BS 9000 and now the Moment.
A few weeks ago, the Jukebox stopped working (just a blank screen) - the diagnosis by B&O service was that a new main board is required and now that I'm out of warranty I will have to pay for the repair which is fine. I did not check the Soundheart initially as it appeared to be working fine through the app after the Jukebox stopped working. However, as part of the diagnostic process, I reset the Soundheart to factory settings and this is where my other problem began. I am unable to find the Soundheart for setup wirelessly on the B&O app (wireless was previously working fine). As a work around, I tried connecting the Soundheart to my router via ethernet and the app was able to find it and complete setup straight away. Bluetooth streaming works fine and so does Spotify.
Now, my question is do I have another problem with the Soundheart's WiFi card as well or do I need the Jukebox on the Soundheart to complete wireless setup? Any input would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Arj
There is no way to configure the product through the B&O App.
You cannot assume you have SH WiFi issue, as after the factory reset, the SH has lost its WiFi setup and is waiting for a new configuration that can only be done through the JukeBox unfortunately.
BS Moment, BS Core, BG 4002, BC 4500, BS1, BL18, BL19, BL8000 + RCV1, A6, M5, M3, A1, P6 (tks Botty), H5, TR1
mbolo01:that can only be done through the JukeBox unfortunately.
Ah! Thanks for the input mbolo01. So the B&O app/resources are to blame here then! I will just have to wait for the Jukebox to come back from repair then (*sigh*).
None of the online guides state that the Jukebox is required to configure the WiFi - both my Essence MK2 and Core ask for the wireless settings as soon as they are factory reset and detected in the B&O app for setup. I guess I was just expecting similar behaviour from the Moment without the Jukebox as well.
.
Present: BL90, Core, BL6000, CD7000, Beogram 7000, Essence Remote.
Past: BL1, BL2, BL8000, BS9000, BL5, BC2, BS5, BV5, BV4-50, Beosystem 3, BL3, DVD1, Beoremote 4, Moment.

mbolo01:integrate the Moment control logic in the App,

Carolpa:Shouldn't you state that the Moment is not web based controlled and therefor the app can't be used?
mbolo01: Carolpa: Shouldn't you state that the Moment is not web based controlled and therefor the app can't be used? The Moment controls are surely HTTP / JSON based like the other products, but there was no interface built elsewhere than the Jukebox. You can retrieve a lot of information from it with a web browser as long as you know the path. This is what the B&O app uses to expose Moment information. So the app is to blame for not having integrated the Moment control commands that would have helped the OP

Just asking....because I have no way of testing this at the moment (and do not remember).
If the Moment is integrated with a tv (say a BV11), the sources - e.g. Pattern Play.. - show up in the Source List there.
Can you then access these from the app/BV11?
And could you Join in to the tv playing Pattern Play from another device e.g. an A9 (either rhrough expanding or through touching the A9)?
If the answer/s is/are yes, there really should have been no reason why it could not have been uncluded in the Bang &Olufsen app (other than they sid not want to).
In any case, the Moment is webbased controlled!

There is a tv - and there is a BV

seethroughyou:It had to be setup using a wired connection. Took me 3 painful hours to discover this.
Thanks for the input. Yeah, annoyingly the lack of this information in the documentation meant that I wasted a few hours trying to get this working too.
seethroughyou:Unreliable and temperamental. The Moment is a disappointing, flakey and unreliable machine. Had I known what I know now i would have not bought it. It had so much potential but B&O failed to invest in the hardware and software properly and then gave up on it quickly.

"Unreliable and temperamental" Talk about false advertising - this should have been part of the Moment's marketing campaign!!! . Knowing what I know now, I would have skipped out on purchasing this too. Especially at the price point they were sold at.
mbolo01:I guess the Moment was already considered dead by B&O when they revisited the App, no efforts were engaged to either align the Moment’ software with other products or to integrate the Moment control logic in the App
A real let down on B&O's part. Surely they realise they are going to have a lot of irate customers that might just skip the brand completely - personally, I am very close to pulling the pin and looking at other options.
mbolo01:Only the Moment Jukebox knows how to navigate and post commands to configure the Moment SoundHeart, there is no equivalent through a web browser nor through the app which uses the same method to get to products configuration web page.
Given that the SH has constant mains power, and that the JB is battery powered one would have thought the SH would have hosted all the main config functions / web interface rather than the JB!! Now that I have experienced the true limitations of the Moment, I think I will just it once I get the JB back from repair. I don't want to be in a position 3-4 years from now where the JB breaks again with no spares available...
I am also one of the unfortunate owners of a Moment.
And now even more so as the display stays black. Seems you face the same issue and got it repaired. How much did it cost you? Maybe it is time to give it to recycle?
seethroughyou:After the BS5 failing on me twice and the problems with the Moment, I have decided never again to buy a B&O music source again. I was toying with the idea of one of their portable speakers but also decided against it. Sadly, B&O don’t have the skills or motivation since they made the transition from physical media to software rooted machines. It’s turning into a speaker and headphones company.
I feel your pain. Unfortunately for me it started with the occasional random reboot of the JB and then one day it just went blank - all while charging on the SH. The only B&O gear that have needed zero investment post purchase/install are my BeoSystem 3, BL8002, BL4000 and Penta 3s. My BV11, Beolab 2 and now the Moment have all needed major repair so far. The Core, BL18s and 19 are going strong too (I probably just jinxed it by saying that!!), but I guess time will tell. Based on my current experience, I am actually considering dumping all the modern B&O gear before anything major happens out of warranty - they are unfortunately just not made the way they used to be.
I am yet to receive the JB back from repair, but the estimate was AUD1100 (+~$350 for a new battery).
