So I picked up a 2400 - I connected speakers to it and on FM and tape (through a beocord) I get very low volumes. However the volume buttons do work in that if I turn it down it goes even softer (quieter) and if I turn it up it goes up (but at max is it very soft almost like it is muted).
I read that the volume is controlled through 4 LDRs in a metal case where 1 bulb controls the volume - the lower the bulb light the higher the sound but a dead bulb will force the unit into mute.
So my question - if my LDR bulb is dead, would the volume buttons still cause the volume to go up and down like mine does, or would a dead bulb totally make the volume unchangable (stuck on 1 muted volume level). Just wanting to rule out if my LDR bulb might be dead, being again that my volume buttons still work.
If it could still be the LDR bulb, any advice on how to open up the metal case and how to replace the LDR bulb? Any input on the type of bulb to use?
First: Place an ohmmeter across the lamp from the underside (Beomaster unpowered) to make sure, the lamp has burned.Second: Are all lamps in the front panel of the correct type and wattage? A bad or wrong source indicator lamp can cause the Beomaster to mute.
In both cases, a very tiny amount of signal will usually be heard at high volume settings.
I can supply correct lamps - both for the front panel and for the LDR casing.
