The gen 1, gen 2 (no gva) and gen 2 (gva) all have different firmware versions so the firmware version should tell you.  The gen 1 products are on 1.22.X.  Not quite sure about the gen 2, but think the gva version is on 1.6.X and the non-gva version is 1.8.X  I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I have a BeoSound 2 gen 1 (no GVA) and gen 2 (GVA).

I can't tell any audio differences between the two, but I'd always get the GVA. In fact, I'm tempted to get rid of my non-GVA gen 1 and replacing it with another GVA model.

It's so easy to use by voice. I can walk in to the room and tell it to play a particular radio track or audio stream, increase the volume and so much more. No remembering to find a controller, no need for the Halo, nothing. Live in 2020 not 1994 Big Smile

Never mind 1994.  I don't want to live in 1984.  No mics for me please.

Oh dear. This is the kind of paranoia my Mother would tell me about.

I agree with andy_js - I don’t see why I should allow some anonymous 3rd party - and how many of their associates - to listen to my household. They have not earned - or paid me for - that privilege.

It's all a trade-off I suppose. For some the convenience outweighs the data sharing costs, for others it does not. To each his own.
