Beogram 4500

Hi i wondered if anyone could help me. i have just bought a beogram 4500 from ebay but it is not working. there is no sound coming from the player and the stylus just glides across the record. Does this mean that i need a new stylus or could it be another problem.

i would be grateful if you could help me.

Check the tracking weight - on the side of the arm. You are probably right that it needs a new cartridge though - the one you have can be retipped though - a lot cheaper!

thanks for your reply peter. would you be able to tell me how do i check the tracking weight and where i would be able to get my stylus re-tipped.  thanks  andy
