I have always loved the linear tracking B&O TT - even though my record collection is a little sparse (like none) but I have been thinking about getting into vinyl.

I was just at an estate sale - judging from the rest of the stuff, it appeared that the owner was well off and appreciated nice stuff.

I bought an 8002 (before I share the price - what do others feel it is worth?) - looked like mint shape (minor scratches on the cover).  Powered up and appeared to rev up to 33/45 and the tone arm (no cartridge) appeared to move appropriately.

I have some of the proprietary B&O DIN cables around for my other stuff - how can I tell if this is good to go for my 3200?  Or non-B&O pre-amp?

Did I get a nice kit or just a beautiful piece of artwork (which is fine with me)?

Also - I picked up (after convincing them they will never sell it otherwise - I will share this price later) a MMC 20 CL-B which appears to be new-in-box.... how can I tell?

.... now all I need is some records?

Probably the best deck made by B&O if not the best made. You will need a pre-amp but that is not expensive. Well done on the cartridge - you need to look at the diamond under a microscope - I'll post some pictures tomorrow but off to work now.

If in mint condition and working, with a cartridge, I think an 8002 should go for anything between £200 - 400 - the latter being a dealer.

Things to watch out for - the surround to the platter and the arm cover become detaches as the double sided tape disintegrates. The plastic of the hinge cover is very fragile. The electronics are prone to failure needing some components - I think you have a great deck though! Smile

The cartridge looks new-in-box (probably bought as a spare and never used) - I am googling it - what is the difference between the 20E, 20EN, 20CL-A, 20CL-B?  Soundsmith has replacements that are several hundred $$$$s??

The TT looks great and appears to run great (looks well cared for) - although the double-tape has been falling apart

I think I got a nice price - even just to appreciate the look (and never use it - as I am not keen on spending a lot to fix up something that may never work right).......

What type of pre-amp MC or MM - this is a new language to me also....

'Not sure if you realize that the cartridge you purchased is incompatible with an 8002.  You need one from the MMC 1-5 series of cartridges, the best match probably being the high-end MMC-2.

I had that thought as I was buying it - but figured that I would take a chance.

are you sure that it will not work?

The difference is in the needle profile - E is elliptical, EN is nude elliptical, CL is contact line, and so on, with the quality, price, and ability to accurately track the record grooves increasing as you go up the line. I don't know what the -A and -B mean.

without trying it out (and potentially ruining it) - are you/we sure that this will not work with the 8002?

It won't fit.
Look at the socket in the tonearm and the connector at the back of the cartridge.
