Funny thing, though - how I would prefer to control the volume depends on where I’d place the speaker.

So......  ;-()

If I am close to the speaker, I’d rather prefer to control the volume with a dial or anything with a tactile feedback.

At the same time, I am lazy and more prone to control via a personal device when the speaker is out of reach.

I have noticed that a remote is not an option in the survey.

Cheers.

Survey done but there are some options missing.

  1. control the device via Remote
  2. Control the device via apple Home (very important  to me)

i am very excited what speaker b&o has in mind. I would love a 2nd Gen M3 which can be used in stereo or as rear speakers.

Living room: BeoVision 7 MKV + BeoLab 7-2 + 2x BeoLab 8000 + BeoLab 2 + 2x BeoLab 4000
Office / guest room: BV 7-32 MKIV / BL7-1; BeoSound Core + Turntable
Kitchen: BeoPlay M3
Bathroom: Gira Radio + BeoLab Celestial
Entrance: BeoPlay M3

Haha what a weird survey! I really wonder where they are in the design process of this new speaker to be asking these two questions specifically. I do however feel like the answers lack some granularity. Like for me I use the volume control on my phone 98% of the time, but for the 2% of the time when I don’t I really do love interacting with the rotary dial on top of the BeoSound 1 & 2; best volume control ever.

They have such a smooth and lovely tactile feel that adds so nicely to the overall personality and quality of the speakers. I also feel that a physical dial is a much more accessible approach; I know in an instant what to reach for and what to do. Grab the dial, turn it and the job is done.

No need to muck around with having to specifically touch a given area of the speaker and so on.

Agree regarding the survey! Also agree regarding BS1 and 2 volume control. Im not too happy with the way M5 volume control works. Also the "tapping" of the upper plate is too wobbly. When I lie in bed and M5 is on my beside table its almost impossible to tap the upper plate to e.g change source.

There must be several different ways of interacting (contolling the volume etc).

We are all different individuals with different needs and we are all in different situations (standing near by the device, laying in bed etc etc), that might require different actions.

B&O - please give us as many options for interacting as possible. The only way to reach more people!

The best thing about the survey is that it is so short. I agree with those who have said the controls depend on the placement. For the M5, I would prefer both tactile and voice.

B&O in my life 😊:

  • Beolab 8002 + Beolab 2 + Beosound Core with Essence Remote (Office)
  • Beolab 6000 + Beolab 11 + Beosound Core with Essence Remote (Bedroom)
  • Beoplay A9 Mk2 (Living Room)
  • Beosound 1 with wireless dock (Portable)
  • Beosound Balance (Dining)
  • Beoplay H95 (Focused listening, travel)
  • Beoplay H9 (3rd gen) (retired)
  • Beoplay P6 (Portable)
  • Beotime wall clock (hallway entrance)
  • BMW X5 50i with B&O Audio Package (Commute/drive)

I don't do instagram so I didn't see the survey.  However, from reading the responses here (and being an engineer that has worked with marketing people over the years), it sounds like they are trying to justify app only control vs. on device volume control.

I just did a quick experiment. So I have a Core connected to an iPhone X running beta iOS 14.2 and the only installed app I run are the B&O App and Apple Music App. So this morning, I played TuneIn from my B&O App to the Core. Interestingly, I can use the volume button to control the volume and the lock screen to change stations etc (similar to the Essence Remote). What I didn't realize that I can do now is to increase or reduce the volume as well as pause audio using Siri! Wow, impressive.

B&O in my life 😊:

  • Beolab 8002 + Beolab 2 + Beosound Core with Essence Remote (Office)
  • Beolab 6000 + Beolab 11 + Beosound Core with Essence Remote (Bedroom)
  • Beoplay A9 Mk2 (Living Room)
  • Beosound 1 with wireless dock (Portable)
  • Beosound Balance (Dining)
  • Beoplay H95 (Focused listening, travel)
  • Beoplay H9 (3rd gen) (retired)
  • Beoplay P6 (Portable)
  • Beotime wall clock (hallway entrance)
  • BMW X5 50i with B&O Audio Package (Commute/drive)

Hey! Just completed your survey. It was really good and I liked the detailed questions in particular. I am into surveys and I like them a lot, so I'm constantly looking for new surveys to complete. I recently found this website, https://www.weareecs.co.uk/social-research-insight/, It allows people from around the world to have discussions online and complete surveys. I suggest you post your survey there so it will be completed by many others.
