Hello and thanks for your time and attention!

I accidentally broke the needle of my beogram 1700 two weeks ago and had the cartridge MMC4000 retipped by a professional in Germany. Today I installed it again, pressed "turn" to start spinning the disk and to clean it and since then the turntable hasn't stopped spinning - even when i unplug the turntable it starts spinning as soon as I plug it in again. The turntable seems to react to other inputs - it spinns faster when i press "45" and slower when I press "33", but the pickup-arm doesn't move and even when i try to put it in place manually (end of the record, starting point) it neither lowers nor automatically stops the spinning of the turntable. I'm not a technican at all, but as far as I understand, the problem can't be caused by the re-installation of the cartridge - or can it?. I'm extremely greatful for all your input, hints and help, as the turntable and the retipping have been very expensive. I'm sorry for my bad english, if anyone knows a good and not too expensive technican in Vienna/Austria or nearby I'd be thankful for the contact. Thanks, Thomas

Hello Martin,

and thanks for your answer! Infact I just realized that I bought the turntable from you via ebay about a year and a half ago, back than you did a full restauration of it, so now I know that I have a true specialist involved! To answer your question: no the button didn't get locked, at least from the outside view. It can be pressed exactly like the other ones. Any other ideas? Have a nice sunday and greetings to Denmark!

When it runs, try (carefully by hand) to move the tonearm to a position corresponding to the end-of-record groove and
see if the deck goes to park and stop.
